Ed eccoci all'oggetto più profondo e autentico di questo libro: ho messo fra apici i tre destinatari degli amori del poeta, poiché, al di là dell'identificabilità delle figure e dei luoghi di cui si parla in questi versi [...], mi sembra che questa poesia trovi la sua maggior forza quanto più le "occasioni" reali della vita attivano funzioni - diciamo così - universali.
