Writing as Thomas Rowley an imaginary 15th century priest Chatterton's literary creations were authentic enough to fool numerous literary figures of his time including Horace Walpole. Although Chatterton committed suicide by poison at the age of 17 his writings influenced an entire generation of poets. Both Keats and Coleridge wrote poems about him. Wordsworth referred to him as "the marvelous boy." Keats inscribed his Endymion "to the memory of Thomas Chatterton." Includes an appendix with 8 of Chatterton's letters.
