Qualche lieve spellatura al dorso e carte marmorizzate dei piatti rifatte, peraltro ottima copia. Opera con il quale Mazzini disegna il quadro storico della letteratura italiana e straniera del periodo. I giudizi e soprattutto la scelta degli autori trattati sono d'ausilio per una più precisa comprensione del pensiero politico mazziniano. Edizione originale, rara.

Compilazione delle prove di discendenza della Nobile Famiglia Medici Caula.
In Modena, Presso la Società Tipografica, 1792. Sigismondo figlio di Sebastiano ... fu celebre pittore e marito della Teresa di Nicolò Muratori ... In 4to grande (cm. 28); bella ed elegante legatura coeva in cartoncino dorato; antiporta con grande stemma “MEDICI CAULA” inciso in rame; pp. 53 + grandissimo albero genealogico della Famiglia di metri 2 x 0,40. La famiglia Caula apparteneva al patriziato estense, ma il ceppo principale proveniva da Sassuolo ove, negli anni venti del XVI secolo, con Casone da Caula e soprattutto con Camillo di Francesco, era a capo di una fazione cittadina, i Caulensi. I Caula appartennero al ceto conservatorio di Modena e s’imparentarono persino con la casa d’Este, in quanto Ippolita Caula andò in sposa a Borso d’Este, zio del Duca di Modena Francesco I e progenitore dei principi di Scandiano. Con ogni probabilità, però, l’origine deve essere ricercata nel toponimo Cavola, antico borgo delle prime colline reggiane, da cui forse la famiglia proveniva. Axs

This eulogy is followed by a short eight-verse poem. This is the only printed eulogy of Lorenzo the Magnificent (John McManamon, Funeral Oratory and the Cultural Ideals of Italian Humanism, 1989). 19th century binding, full red morocco, spine framed with gilt fillet and blind stamped, full title, large lace pattern frame and double gilt fillet framing the inside cover. Several brackets and handwritten notes from then. Ex-libris from the Prince Piero Ginori Conti (1865-1939), an Italian businessman and politician, coated on the first inside cover. Ex-libris embossed with the stamp of the Gianni de Marco's Library. Opposing a complete different approach from the usual laudatory praises, Aurelio Bienato introduces Lorenzo the Magnificent as a modern prince, a European model, a patron of arts and literature, but also a guarantor for peace in Italy. The purpose of his text is above all political: he underlines and praises the recent diplomatic ties between Florence and Naples, enabling Lorenzo the Magnificent to establish his power over the Florentine city. This volume comes with an autograph letter signed by Piero de' Medici, son of Lorenzo the Magnificent, addressed to Dionigi Pucci, himself a diplomat and friend of the sender. 28 lines written in a fine and slim writing. Address of the recipient at the back of the second leaf. Wax seal marks. Light brown spotting. In this letter Piero the Unfortunate claims his allegiance to Ferdinand II of Aragon, king of Naples. Actually, as he was writing this letter, he had already reached a neutrality agreement with Charles VIII King of France who was about to capture by force the realm of Naples he considered his. Despite this agreement, Piero II de' Medici was nonetheless compelled to surrender unconditionally and seek exile in Venice: this is the beginning of the first Italian war. In two years on the throne, he destroyed everything the Medici dynasty had built during the former century. Antica firma e forellino di tarlo al front., piccoli lavori di tarlo alle sguardie ed ai piatti della legatura, per il resto buon esemplare fresco, a larghi margini.

"Coleccion Documentos" Nos. 10-12.</p><p>At the head of the title: Ano del Centenario de los Proceres Centroamericanos Pedro Molina y Francisco Barrundia.</p><p>Pedro Molina 1777-1854 was a Guatemalan revolutionary and statesman. Molina studied humanities at an early age under the tutelage of one of the great Guatemalan scholars of the late eighteenth century Fray Antonio de Liendo y Goicoechea 1735–1814. He later studied medicine and surgery receiving his degree in 1798. In the years prior to independence from Spain Molina became increasingly involved in politics. He eventually came to lead an unlikely alliance of conservative oligarchs and middle-class elements. Born out of opposition to the captain-general Jose de Bustamante y Guerra this political faction later became the most radical one of the era actively urging independence. The voice of this nascent political party known derisively by its opponents as the cacos or thieves was the newspaper El Editor Constitucional edited by Molina who also wrote the column on physical and moral education.</p><p>The text is in Spanish.</p> Guatemala: Editorial del Ministerio de Educacion Publica, 1954. paperback

THE MEXICAN REVOLUTION. A 6-PAGE AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED. A first hand account of an attack on the village of Zimapan by "rebels" Zapatistas.
Zimapan Hidalgo Mexico August 7 1935. 1935. Very good. - sc - Six pages consisting of over 1000 words penned on both sides of 3 sheets of 10-1/2 inch high by 8-1/8 inch wide buff-colored paper. In a lengthy letter James H. Armstrong the author of this account responds after reading a book which Mrs. McDougall has sent him. The book Rosa E. King's "Tempest Over Mexico" which had just been published that year has stirred up Armstrong's memories and feelings. He doesn't view the "rebels" The Liberation Army of the South known as the Zapatistas with as much fondness "She rather idealizes Zapata though strangely she makes no mention of his brother who accompanied him all the time and glosses over the terrible cruelty of the Zapatists." He goes on to describe at length an attack by the Zapatistas "When the town was attacked by the rebels for the first time I had advance information from one of the rebel sympathizers who worked for us so was not surprised when a group surrounded the town and demanded that the small garrison surrender or else the place would be taken by 'sangre y fuego' - 'blood and fire!' The town authorities decided to resist and the women and children of the principal families were gathered into the big house." He goes on to describe that night and the "all-day attack" which followed until "through their scouts the rebels received word that a relief column was coming so they retired and that unpleasant spell was over." Describing a subsequent attack he writes of joining the "Jefe Politico a very good friend" who'd organized a little band of volunteers to escort the women as they would all try to reach the next town. The group was overtaken and to protect the women surrendered to the Zapatistas. "As a foreigner I was deputed to approach with a white flag and arrange terms. One of the women gave me her white petticoat to flaunt and up the hill I went." Signed "Jas. H. Armstrong". The pages are folded once horizontally and twice vertically for mailing. There is some minor soiling with creasing to the right edge. Very good. <p>A very entertaining first hand account of an event during the Mexican Revolution.<p>The writer James H. In 8 (cm 18 x 26), pp. XXVIII. Stemma dei Reali di Francia inciso all'acquaforte al frontespizio, testatine, capilettera e finalini incisi. Legatura moderna in cartonatura. Testo della cantata per cinque voci, pubblicata anonima ma scritta da Michelangelo Giacomelli (cfr. Capponi, Bibliografia pistoiese, 1874, p. 210) e musicata da Rinaldo da Capua (cfr. S. Franchi, Le impressioni sceniche, Roma, 1994, p. 709) eseguita il 22 novembre 1751 a Palazzo Farnese, di proprieta' del re di Napoli, per la nascita di Luigi Saverio di Francia. I festeggiamenti durarono tre giorni: palazzo Farnese e la sua piazza furono illuminati con torce, lanternoni e fiaccole, all'esterno fu realizzato un portico con festoni di alloro. Furono illuminati anche altri palazzi romani, tra cui quelli di Cardinali e ambasciatori che vollero con grandi luminarie associarsi all'esultanza per la nascita del primo nipote di Luigi XV.
