We have added to the Anderson a new map by Barbara Long foreword notes and index by Edwin C. Bearss the foremost expert on the Transmississippi Civil War West." Boldly signed in blue ballpoint. Che questo sia indice di una vocazione italica alla sconfitta, è arduo da sostenere, ma certo è un dato di fatto col quale fare i conti. Il tracollo e la resa delle truppe di Graziani, se per un verso sono l'esito emblematico dell'impreparazione alla guerra dell'Italia fascista, per l'altro si affiancano a Caporetto come disastro da cui l'esercito italiano seppe imparare, ponendo riparo alle mancanze più evidenti e raggiungendo quei più elevati standard di combattimento di cui darà prova in seguito, proprio in Africa, sotto il comando di Rommel, fino al sacrificio di El Alamein.
