Original paper wrappers. 8vo. 36 pages each volume, 22 cm. In Hebrew. Title translates to Essays from Conversations with Rav Yerucham Halevi Levovitz. Levovitz was the Mashgiach Ruchani of the Mirrer Yeshiva in Poland. One of the great exponents of Mussar. He was a talmid or Rav Simcha Zissel Broida one of the foremost disciples of Rabbi Yisroel Salanter. Below are eight fascicles printed in Shanghai. The first three fascicles were first published before the Holocaust in Baranovitch, the fourth was published in Kaiden due to the war. For a period during 1940, the town served as home to about 300 students and teachers from the Mir Yeshiva. After WWII, much of orthodox Jewry in Europe was wiped out, along with their many yeshivas (Jewish schools of higher learning) . One of the only yeshivas to survive as a whole body was the Mir Yeshiva, which managed to escape miraculously to Shanghai, China, and then on to America. Many of the new leaders of the American and Israeli yeshivas in the post-war period were students of the Mir, and thus followers of Rabbi Leibovitz. SUBJECTS: Litvak Holocaust Displaced Persons. Brigata Maiella, Resistenza e Bella ciao. Combattere cantando la libertà
Il volume è una riflessione a più voci su una delle più straordinarie esperienze storiche della Seconda guerra mondiale. La vicenda della Brigata Maiella rappresenta per molti versi un unicum nella storia non solo della Resistenza italiana tra 1943 e 1945 ma anche del complessivo movimento resistenziale a livello europeo. I suoi abruzzesi combattono al fianco dell'VIII Armata britannica contro il nazifascismo ma non si limitano a farlo nei loro territori d'origine, bensì proseguono verso nord e, raccolte centinaia di altre adesioni da diverse regioni italiane, giungono sino in Veneto, liberando per primi, lungo il loro cammino, città come Pesaro e Bologna. A questa, si uniscono altre caratteristiche che ne fanno un caso unico, dalla sua assoluta pluralità (negli ideali politici e nella composizione sociale) all'intransigenza repubblicana, fino al suo essere piena espressione della partecipazione meridionale a una Resistenza intesa ormai come davvero nazionale.
