Accra: Ministry of Information 1966. First edition presentation copy inscribed by the chairman of the Ghanaian National Liberation Council on the front pastedown "Joseph Arthur Ankrah Chairman N.L.C. Ghana. With compliments." Above the inscription is the book label of Malcolm MacDonald a former British high commissioner in Ghana and Whitehall's Special Representative to East and Central Africa 1965-70. During the second half of the 1960s MacDonald worked closely with Ankrah to try and bring conflicting parties in the Nigerian Civil War to the negotiating table. He also made a favourable impression on senior leaders of communist China whose deep-rooted political and practical support for Nkrumah is documented in this accusatory publication. According to Premier Zhou Enlai MacDonald was "the only capitalist we can trust" New York Times. Quarto. Tables and illustrations in text. Original red cloth front cover blocked in black. Tianjin: Municipal Government Reception Committee for Allied Forces 1945. A handout issued shortly after the launching of Operation Beleaguer and the arrival of American troops in Tianjin. Ten pages are devoted to the location of Allied billets which were set up in the consulates of defeated powers merchant premises and clubs as well as at the racecourse. Printing was handled by the Chihli Press located opposite the headquarters of the 3rd Amphibious Corps. Small octavo pp. 24. Text in English and Chinese. Collection of press photographs taken during the 1927 Northern Expedition.
London: Sport & General Press Agency 1927. The images show a National Revolution Army artillery team during February's advance on Shanghai General Sun Chuanfang's retreating soldiers by Jessfield Railway Bridge and Zhejiang troops. Four photographs concern American Dutch and British forces part of the international coalition deployed to protect expatriate residents and businesses in Shanghai and a fifth captures a Chinese man addressing a street crowd. Also present are two photographs captioned "Chinese types" showing labourers as well as a vernacular shot of a female Westerner serving coffee and biscuits to some Dutch marines. 12 gelatin silver photographs most x. 155 x 210 mm 4 of smaller sizes all but one press photographs with usual agency labels wet stamps and typed and handwritten captions. Usual creasing and nicking prints lightly faded 3 more so but all still clear odd old paperclip mark: a very good collection. unknown

Renmin jiefangjun daju fangong "The People's Liberation Army Begins Its Great Counterattack".
No stated place or publisher: c.1947. A scarce contemporary edition printed on homespun paper for small-scale distribution of this important Chinese Communist Party editorial issued to coincide with Mao's launch of a major offensive in the north-east which marked a turning point in the civil war. The article the first text to use the slogan "strike down Chiang Kai-Shek by force" was personally revised in the drafting stages by Mao and published in the People's Daily on 14 September 1947. Mao's revisions included adding the sentence "To have peace we must first destroy Chiang Kai-Shek; to have food to eat we must first destroy Chiang Kai-Shek; to have democracy we must first destroy Chiang Kai-Shek; to have independence we must first destroy Chiang Kai-Shek - this is already commonly understood in China." Duodecimo pp. 10. Text in Chinese. Original wrappers front cover lettered in black and with map of the Hankow-Xuchang area showing cities controlled by communist and nationalist forces.
