New Haven Conn: The Yale Publishing Association Inc 1919. HB. Dark blue cloth gilt lettering and the insignia of the Lafayette Flying Corps on front cover gilt lettering on spine 8vo 191 pp. Frontis photograph of the author and 12 full-page plates within text plus two fold-out plates at rear. Henry Howard Houston Woodward 1896-1918 was from a prominent Philadelphia family attended Yale University but left school early in 1917 at enlist in the American Ambulance Field Service. After serving in France several months Woodward transferred in July 1917 to the Franco-American Aviation Corps. After training he flew with Escadrille Spad 94 and was killed in action near Montdidier April 1 1918. This is a presentation copy signed by his father George Woodward Yale 1887 and presented to Charles O. Scoville dated March 1920. Scoville was probably Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in New Haven also a Yale class of 1887 member. No marks in book binding tight one fold-out plate separated at the fold. Gilt lettering on the spine somewhat rubbed. Book condition VG. The Yale Publishing Association, Inc hardcover
