The Burial of General Rosecrans Arlington National Cemetary May 17 1902 is the very scarce first edition nearly the complete stock of this original edition was destroyed by a fire at Robert Clarke the publisher just as distribution started. It was subsequently reprinted with a note explaining the reasons for the reissue. The 37th volume includes the scarce accompanying pamphlet: "The Battles of Chattanooga" address of Major W. J. Colburn at the dedication of the New York Monument in Point Park Lookout Mountain Tennessee on Nov. 15 1910. Lacking only the 2nd 7th 19th 23rd 26th and 29th reunions. Cincinnati OH: The Robert Clarke Company 1897. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover beveled green cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior show spotting as well as edge and corner wear. The front board has a faint indentation crease located in the upper left corner. The interior pages are toned due to age and some foxing is present. No signatures or bookplates found and only evidence of handwriting is an old store price that was once penciled on the second end page. Interior binding is in rough shape with large cracks at front and rear boards with the rear hinge being the most severe. This causes the binding to feel loose.
