A FINE AND EARLY ARCHIVE OF SKATE PUNK FLYERS DOCUMENTING THE ROLE OF THE BAND JODY FOSTER'S ARMY JFA AND THEIR CONTEMPORARIES IN THE SKATE CULTURE IN THE EARLY 1980s. Due to the infancy of skateboarding at this time Nasworthy sold his wheels directly to surf shops along the coast of California and placed some tentative advertisements featuring a young Gregg Weaver in surfing magazines. In 1973 or 1974 Nasworthy licensed his wheels to Bahne and Co. of Encinitas California and Bahne skateboards were packaged with Cadillac wheels. A very scarce first edition.The work of Thomas Hall a Captain in the Bengal Army.Lacking four leaves - eight pages - to the rear of the book. These leaves consist of the three final leaves of the 'Author's Notes' to the rear and of the first leaf of the subscriber's list.The poems are about subjects familiar to officers of the East India Company such as smoking drinking boredom and mosquitoes.The Indian climate was detrimental to Hall's health. After a series of furloughs he returned to duty in 1816 with the recommendation that "in consequence of his severe sufferings that he be only employed in a manner the least likely to affect the impaired state of his health".With a faint former owner's inscription to the head of the title page and the inscription of H. Gamble to the recto of the final leaf with further ink inscription to verso. A contemporary owner has copied out the alphabet and the numbers 0-9 to the verso of the final subscriber's leaf.With an errata leaf to the rear.Lacking the front and rear free endpaper.Undated; dated 1814 via the British Library.A very scarce second edition of this work was published in London the following year.Offering a fascinating insight into the life of an East India Company man in the early nineteenth century. In a full calf binding. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints. Otherwise externally smart. Hinges strained but firmly held. Lacking front and rear free endpaper. Internally generally firmly bound though first contents leaf detached to head and loosely held to tail and two gatherings towards the centre of the work working loose.
