Dante, Colombo e la fine del mondo
ril. Il saggio di Ruggero Marino proietta una luce sempre più convincente sulle ricerche che da 30 anni conduce sulla figura di Cristoforo Colombo e sul papa Innocenzo VIII, lo "sponsor" della spedizione nel Nuovo Mondo del 1492. Partendo dall' interrogativo, che è il "leit motiv" del libro e che lo stesso Marino si pone, quando scrive se sia così azzardato pensare che un sottile "filo rosso", una comune conoscenza iniziatica, unisca il viaggio divino e poetico di Dante al viaggio terreno e avventuroso del navigatore. Ambedue in cerca del paradiso. La risposta scaturisce da una serie di analisi, considerazioni, raffronti, citazioni che dimostrano una conoscenza quanto mai vasta e profonda degli argomenti trattati. Ma Marino va oltre, proponendo un'altra suggestiva tesi, quella di un Colombo oriundo greco, figlio forse del papa, che si ricollega alla figura di un altro campione della grecità, l'Ulisse dantesco. In un approdo, oltre le colonne d' Ercole, sotto altre stelle, negato al pagano, consentito al cristiano. Estremamente affascinante addentrarsi nel testo, nella marea di raffronti, in un lavoro di investigazione davvero considerevole. Nell' ennesimo tassello per svelare il "mistero" Colombo. Al quale si aggiunge ora il "mistero" Dante. La seconda parte del saggio riguarda la famosa mappa di Martin Waldseemuller, con lo scippo che consegnò alla storia il battesimo vespucciano del nome America. Un'investigazione, ancora una volta controcorrente, che fa nascere una serie di legittimi dubbi sull' autenticità di quella carta.
