‎Rome, s.n., 1838 in-4, XII-87 pp., avec un plan hors-texte, demi-veau bouteille, dos lisse orné de filets dorés, tranches mouchetées (rel. du milieu du XIXe s.). Manque à la coiffe supérieure, rousseurs.‎

‎C'est une bouteille à l'encre que la véritable localisation de la cité de Cures Sabini, vieille fondation sabine, citée par Cicéron, Virgile, Stace, Strabon et Plutarque. Son importance théorique est liée à sa proximité avec l'histoire la plus ancienne de Rome (largement mythique : elle aurait été le lieu d'origine du deuxième Roi, Numa Pompilius, comme du quatrième, Ancus Martius). Mais elle était devenue un modeste village à l'époque d'Auguste, et, en dépit d'un siège épiscopal lors de la christianisation, disparut entre le VIe et le VIIIe siècle.
