Images and documents shedding light on the corporate history of Robert Collage and Bogazici University from the mid-19th century to the end of the 20th century are on display for the first time in a comprehensive exhibition. Dating from the 1850s up to the 1980s, the content of the displayed written and visual documents regarding Robert College and Bogazici University range from history to literature, painting to architecture and archeology to foreign politics, among many more. The archives of Bogazici University and Robert Collage are normally introduced at Columbia University's Rare Books and Manuscripts Library in New York. However, following the protocol signed between the two universities, digital copies of the documents were sent to Turkey. The archive that unearths over a century of history includes more than 200,000 documents. A huge selection of Ottoman-era magazines such as "Servet-i Fünun," "Asri Türkiye Mecmuasi," and Republican-era daily papers including "Cumhuriyet," "Milliyet," "Medan," "Baris" and "Aksam," as well as news and comments about Turkey in the international media such as The New York Times and National Geographic are open for visitors. The Exhibition not only features digital and hard copies of corporate documents, but also a selection from various archives such as the Adalet Agaoglu Research Chamber, the archive of well-known architectural historian and Bogazici University's founding chancellor Aptullah Kuran, the collection of Aziz Ogan, the Halet Cambel and Nail Cakirhan Archaeology, Traditional Architecture and History and Research Center Archive, the collection of former Foreign Minister Melih Rauf Esenbel, the Architectural Drawings Collection, which features drawings from the 1870s to the 1990s, the archive of the Scott Family and the Fuchs Culture and History Heritage Archive.

Since second century B.C., China exported silk to different countries in the west as far as the countries on the Mediterranean Coast along different routes. Turkey officially launched an undersea commuter train (the Marmaray) connecting the Asian and European sides of Istanbul on Tuesday, 29 October 2013. It seems that the Marmaray is more than just a Turkish project to improve public trans-portation in Istanbul, but part of the Silk Road, which has served humanity for centuries, connecting Asia and Europe. Moreover, this project will revive historical silk road. That road was not only caravan road but a road that links Western and Eastern civilizations. Nowadays China is also planning to make serious investment to revive "the New Silk Road" that will run through Central Asia and continue into Europe facilitating improved transport and trade. Globalization generally refers to the increased interdependence of the world's economies signified by the circulation of information, money, people and goods across national boundaries. It has of late, given rise to the domination of world's market by a selected number of transnational corporations. However, since time immemorial, different countries were related to one another through geographical spread of ideas, social norms and trading commodi-ties. This premodern phase of globalisation is known as "archaic globalization". In the fol-lowing years we will see that the new projects realised by the countries on the historical Silk Road will play a key role on the new integration process between the east and west as well as the north and the south. The papers in this book invite us to rethink and focus on Silkroad.".

Anatolia in the Antique age was divided into many different regions such as Troas, Ionia, Aiolis, Mysia, Lydia, Phrygia, Caria, Lykia, Pamphylia, Pisidia, Cilicia, Commagene, Galatia, Bithynia and Pontus which had about a total of 1500 antique city settlements. Some of these city settlements were left under the soil as a result of the modern construction industry while many more still wait for being searched and excavated. Today, 133 of these cities were excavated and arranged. This work aims at introducing the relatively significant ones of the cities mentioned above that were excavated. We tried to use support the narrative with the city plans and up-to-date photographs. Although it was quite difficult to choose the photographs out of a rich collection of thousands of pictures that reflected the geographical riches of the land, we enjoyed the challenge and did our best in utmost meticulousness in picking the ones that we thought were fitting.
