Si le present volume contient moins de documents ceux-ci sont plus varies et se repartissent mieux dans le temps; contrairement au volume precedent le nombre de documents publics est important et illustre bien l'histoire de certaines cites particulierement a l'epoque hellenistique. Comme par le passe nous n'avons pas voulu presenter un catalogue laconique mais nous avons cru bon de pousser au maximum le commentaire des textes meme les plus humbles puisque ceux-ci constituent une des bases de l 'histoire des cites. Celle-ci a ete brievement dressee avant le corpus de chaque cite et sert de cadre au catalogue qui suit; le sous-titre de l'ouvrage "Epigraphie et histoire" indique l'importance attribuee peut-etre pour la premiere fois pour l'elaboration de cette synthese historique aux documents epigraphiques bien que les autres sources -litteraires numismatiques ou archeologiques- n'aient pas ete negligees. Au moment de la parution de la presente publication il m'est agreable de remercier les nombreuses personnes qui de facons diverses m'ont aide dans l'elaboration de cet ouvrage. ISBN: 978-960-7905-36-9.</p><p>The scattered ruins in "Peliti" hill or "Kastri" hill of Agrossykia village today being a municipal apartment of Pella municipality attracted the interest livened up in the imagination of the residents of the region and created legends and traditions about hidden treasures of the era of Alexander the Great. This was the cause that many gold-dingers who were seeking their fortune dug holes in several points of the settlement and destroued parts of the walls and part of the Tower A in the southern side of the Christian wall. However the beginning of the excavating researches in the settlement also marked the general topographic research of the yet unknown northern Bottiaea. The test sections that took place in various places in the settlement by P. Chrysostomou the archaeologist in charge for the province of Giannitsa initially aimed at the determination of the time and the duration of its dwelling. During the excavating period 1984-85 the fact that the settlement had already been dwelled diachronically by the prehistoric years was confirmed. The collaboration with Ioannis Aslanis researcher of the Institute of Greek and Roman antiquity of the National Institution of Researches was judged as essential so as for the the material of the Neolithic Chalcolithic era to be systematically observed. ISBN: 978-960-85145-5-3.</p><p>The volume is the result of a workshop held at the Norwegian Institute at Athens 11th-13th of November 2011. It addressed the different layers of mobility in the Bronze and Early Iron Age of the Eastern Mediterranean. It also concerns the intensity and scale of interaction and its role as a motor of change which represent key discourses in archaeology. The chapters in this volume deal with a great variety of materials in order to capture the multitude of connections and their impacts within and between the regions surrounding the Mediterranean. Frameworks used to explore the dynamics include Network Theory and World System Theory materiality theory and theories of embodiment to mention some. As such it is a hope that this volume will inspire researchers whether they address mobility in what in Meyer’s words could be described as a ‘satellite perspective’ or a ‘microscope perspective’.</p><p>The ten chapters could be divided into three sections along the main geographic scale addressed ‘global’ or ‘local’ and period Bronze or Iron Age by the authors. This would be a heuristic device as these scales are not exclusive but rather seek to investigate different aspects of mobility and may be regarded as complementary to each other. For instance a global scale gives the benefit of overarching perspectives while the local provides a detailed view. Both need to be grasped in order to examine the extent and impact of Bronze Age networks. Furthermore the ‘global’ and the ‘local’ are not likely to have been separated analytically by the dwellers of the ancient societies of the Mediterranean hinterlands whose everyday lives may have been tied to both spheres even if a ‘global consciousness’ may not always have been omnipresent or equally distributed. The chapters of this volume cover a large geographic area providing in a glimpse into how mobility was dealt with in Central Europe Mycenaean Greece the Levant Cyprus and Southern Italy.
