New York n.d. Very Good. A lovely early cabinet photograph of famed opera singer Blanche Roosevelt 1853-1898. She gained renown early in life and later also turned to writing. She knew many important figures in literature and the arts and became the mistress of French writer Guy de Maupassant in 1884. She died a tragic early death at the age of forty-five from injuries suffered in a carriage accident. This photograph was taken at the studio of Jose Mora. Mora was born in Cuba but came to the United States at a young age and became a prominent celebrity photographer in New York City in the late 1800s. In very good condition. 2.5 x 4 inches.
