br. Grisélidis Réal è sepolta nel prestigioso Cimetière des Rois di Ginevra. Un'umile targhetta posta sulla tomba informa che la donna fu «Écrivain - Peintre - Prostituée». L'epitafo da lei voluto stabilisce una gerarchia: la Réal si definisce prima una scrittrice, poi una prostituta. È infatti una scrittrice di valore assoluto che, per esempio, nel romanzo «Il nero è un colore» (Keller, 2019) e nei libri di corrispondenza «Con tanto dolore e tanto amore» e «Les Sphinx» ha dato prova di una penna straordinaria: la sua scrittura è vera, incisiva, cruenta, lirica, sofferta. «Con tanto dolore e tanto amore» raccoglie gli scambi epistolari tra l'autrice e Jean-Luc Hennig dall'estate 1980 all'inverno 1991. Considerato il capolavoro di Grisélidis Réal, è documento sulla prostituzione quotidiana che rivela il panorama segreto della miseria sessuale maschile con rabbia, crudezza e tenerezza, e allo stesso tempo è autoritratto dell'autrice che in sé accoglie un universo femminile molteplice: prostituta sì, ma anche grande viaggiatrice, lettrice eclettica, amante appassionata, sociologa dilettante, altruista libertaria...

ill., ril. Quando nel settembre del 1980 il reporter James Whitaker arrivò con due fotografi sulla sponda del fiume Dee, a Balmoral, non aveva idea di che cosa lo aspettava. Fece appena in tempo a scorgere la giovane ragazza bionda che accompagnava il principe Carlo nella sua battuta di pesca: sentiti dei rumori in lontananza, la ragazza si nascose rapida dietro un albero, utilizzando uno specchietto da cipria per controllare i loro movimenti. Whitaker, sorpreso dall'astuzia, disse agli altri due: «Questa ci darà filo da torcere. Ma chi è?». Lady Diana Spencer avrebbe poi dato "filo da torcere" a tutti: al principe Carlo, alla regina Elisabetta, alla monarchia e all'intero popolo del Regno Unito, che d'improvviso si trovò a dover reimmaginare il proprio rapporto con la famiglia reale. Dopo secoli di misteri, corridoi silenziosi e finestre chiuse, di vicendevole riservatezza ed estremo rispetto, la tumultuosa e romanzesca storia d'amore tra Carlo e Diana infiammò il paese, dai primi giorni apparentemente felici del fidanzamento alla guerra domestica (e mediatica) che avrebbe segnato la fine di quel matrimonio da fiaba celebrato in diretta televisiva di fronte a milioni di persone. Oggi, a vent'anni dalla tragica morte nel tunnel dell'Alma, a Parigi, siamo convinti di conoscere tutto di questa storia. Ma l'immagine di Diana, complici i mass media, è stata ridotta troppo spesso alla banalità del santino: amica di Madre Teresa, testimonial attiva per associazioni umanitarie e campagne per la prevenzione dell'AIDS, la "principessa del popolo" sarebbe stata, secondo copione, amata con trasporto e passione dai sudditi, detestata dalla regina, vessata dalla stampa, tradita e mortificata dal marito, immolata come simbolo di una vita libera e coraggiosa schiacciata dalla crudeltà delle istituzioni e della storia. Ma Diana era molto di meno e molto di più. Aggirando i luoghi comuni e le partigianerie, Vittorio Sabadin penetra quegli occhi tristi e distanti, restituendoci un ritratto inedito della "candela nel vento", libero dalla mitologia posticcia, distante dagli scandali e dalle foto patinate, sfaccettato, finalmente controverso e, per questo, umano.
