Seit 1863 gehörte er neben Alexander Girardi, Marie Geistinger und Felix Schweighofer dem Theater an der Wien an und siedelte 1889 an das Amberg-Theater nach New York über, wo er bis 1892 als Charakterkomiker auftrat und als Oberregisseur tätig war.
