He Afterwards Represented Seaford Between 1820 And 1826 Ludgershall Between 1826 And 1830 And Okehampton Between 1830 And 1831. He Supported George Canning's Motion In 1822 For A Bill To Relieve The Disabilities Of Roman Catholic Peers And Consistently Supported Liberal Principles. He Took Little Interest In Party Politics But Was A Strong Advocate Of State Support For The Causes Of Literature And The Fine Arts. In 1824 Agar-Ellis Was The Leading Promoter Of The Grant Of £57000 For The Purchase Of John Julius Angerstein's Collection Of Pictures Which Formed The Foundation Of The National Gallery. On The Formation Of Lord Grey's Whig Administration In November 1830 He Was Sworn Of The Privy Council And Appointed First Commissioner Of Woods And Forests. However He Was Forced To Resign After Two Months Due To Bad Health. In June 1831 During His Father's Lifetime Agar-Ellis Was Raised To The Peerage As Baron Dover Of Dover In The County Of Kent. He Was President Of The Royal Society Of Literature In 1832 A Trustee Of The British Museum And Of The National Gallery And A Commissioner Of Public Records. Lord Dover Married Lady Georgiana Howard Daughter Of George Howard 6Th Earl Of Carlisle In 1822. They Had Two Sons Who Became Respectively The 3Rd Viscount And 5Th Viscount And Two Daughters. He Died On The 10 July 1833 Aged Only 36 Predeceasing His Father By Three Years. Lord Dover'S Works Were Chiefly Historical And Include: The True History Of The Iron Mask Extracted From Documents In The French Archives 1826 Inquiries Respecting The Character Of Clarendon 1827 And A Life Of Frederick Ii. 1831. The exhibition is co-curated by Dr. Nazan Ölcer Head of Sakip sabanci Museum and Dr. Maria Tsantsanoglou, Head of the George Costakis Collection at State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki, and besides the Costakis Collection it contains a selection of 513 works from Moscow's All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts and Multimedia Art Museum and works from leading private collections in Europe shown together for the first time thus shedding a light upon the important place Russian Avant-Garde occupied in the history of art. The 'Dreaming the Future. Russian Avant-garde Art and Design' exhibition does not only focus on the dramatic changes and radical developments that happened during first quarter of the 20th century and prepared the groundwork for intellectual and artistic progress, not just within the Russian artistic culture, but it is designed to hod a mirror to the effect on world art. The exhibition shows the Russian avant-garde artists that in the early 1900s tried to introduce art as a lifechanging power, the ground-breaking work of the artists in this period where the reformist atmosphere had been brought about by the October Revolution in 1917, and the social design they tried to put into practice supported by the new regime and also the wide boundaries of the future they dreamed of. The exciting technological developments and industrialisation that occurred in the early 20th century turned the avant-garde artists towards science and overcoming the boundaries of the earth, dreams of space reflected the beliefs the artists had in the future and tihs is very vividly reflected in the works displayed in this exhibition.

These two volumes start to retell the story of sculpture in Britain as being as much outside as inside the gallery by immigrants as much as by the ''British'' and in the form of printed material as much as in primary production. Published to mark the tenth anniversary of the Henry Moore Institute these books are a sign of the fact that the Institute has come to function as the centre of a network or community of information. Le Baroque s?offre aujourd?hui comme un miroir fascinant pour nos societes post-modernes que d?aucuns qualifient de neo-baroques. En effet, ne sommes-nous pas tentes de nous reconnaitre dans cet art de la demesure, aux effets speciaux tout droit sortis d?un Deus ex machina ? Or l?une des expressions les plus eloquentes de ce Baroque vitaliste et total est l?art du retable. Art spectaculaire s?il en est, il s?offre comme la toile de fond de la liturgie ostentatoire de la Contre-Reforme, et plus encore comme un ?« acteur ?» essentiel dans l?apprehension du divin. Sorte de trait d?union visuel entre l?ici-bas et l?au-dela, mais aussi, dans une relation non plus verticale mais horizontale, entre les croyants et l?Eglise catholique, il semble etre le point focal de la culture visuelle de la Contre-Reforme. Si le retable baroque est bien un phenomene europeen qui puise ses racines dans la culture artistique italienne, il prend neanmoins des formes specifiques dans chaque espace de la catholicite du xviie siecle. Or l?un des espaces ou il a connu un epanouissement tout particulier est celui des anciens Pays-Bas. Ce volume cherche a resituer ces ?« machines spirituelles ?» dans le tissu socio-culturel et religieux de l?epoque, tout en procedant a une etude genealogique et typologique de leurs materiaux, formes, themes et fonctions.
