Im Februar 1910 war die Position des Lehrstuhlinhabers ein hochgradig brisantes Thema. Jules Dejerine der den Lehrstuhl seit 1901 innehatte war primär Neurologe und galt in den Augen von Experten wie Blanchard als "Fehlbesetzung" da er die Medizingeschichte nicht wissenschaftlich-historisch sondern rein klinisch behandelte. Entrou para a Congregação dos Clérigos Regulares em 1661. A sua acção no campo da filologia literatura e história foi muito importante para o desenvolvimento destas disciplinas em Portugal. É o autor do monumental Vocabulário da Língua Portuguesa impresso em 10 volumes de grande número de sermões orações fúnebres estudos ensaios sobre diversos assuntos poesias e obras teológicas em latim.</p>_x000d_<p>EN 2 volumes bound in 1. He joined the Congregation of Regular Clergy in 1661. His work in the field of philology literature and history was very important for the development of these disciplines in Portugal.
