‎Those cartoons by Sapajou have first appeared in North China Daily News between August 11 and September 27, 1937, during the Japanese Occupation in Shanghai. Sapajou (Georgii Avksentievich Sapojnikoff), a former Russian Army Lieutenant who worked as a cartoonist for The North China Daily News from 1925 onwards. The text was edited by R. T. Peyton-Griffin, editor of the paper, who used the pen-name "In Parenthesis". Please inquire before buying‎

‎Sans lieu ni date (probablement publié en Cochinchine dans les années 1860-1870). 1 grand volume in-4, III->IX + 328 pp., reliure moderne plein cuir bordeaux, page de titre absente, premiers et derniers feuillets fragilisés (déchirures, petits manques de papier, salissures), le corps du texte est en très bon état. L'étude est suivie d'un ensemble de 15 planches sur 16 (la dernière planche est manquante) Les 3 dernières planches sont fragilisées et présentent de légers manques de papier marginaux. L'ensemble est tout à fait correct.‎

‎Très rare étude parue originellement à Batavia en 1866 en langue anglaise. Le texte de Schlegel est copié de son manuscrit rédigé à Batavia en mars 1866 en français et publié probablement en Cochinchine, au début de la colonisation. Il s'agit ici d'une rare édition lithographiée d'après le manuscrit originel. Important ouvrage sur La Société Secrète Chinoise Thian Ti Houi. Les planches représentent les différents insignes, symboles et étendards de la Confrérie.‎

Sheet measures 76 x 108cm. Interestingly as well as an inset map of the South China Sea claiming all islands inside the 9-Dash Line as Chinese and providing their names in pin-yin the outline of China on the wrapper also features a 9-Dash Line protruding to the south. The disputes in the South China Sea over ownership of the islands that started in 1970 had become a contentious issue by 1981 when this map was published. . ‎<p><em>Cup saucer and side plate; white china has strikingly clean straight lines and is rimmed in dark green with a green handle to the cup each piece carries the motif designed by Sylvia Pankhurst of the 'angel of freedom' blowing her trumpet and flying the banner of 'Freedom in the background are the initials 'WSPU' set against dark prison bars surrounded by the thistle shamrock and rose and dangling chains; the cup has one minor hairline crack otherwise all pieces are in fine condition.</em></p><p>Rare survival of an original Suffragette cup saucer and side plate complete with the 'Angel of Freedom' designed by Sylvia Pankhurst. Initially for use in the refreshment room of the Prince's Skating Rink Exhibition and then sold in aid of funds.</p><p>The Women's Exhibition of 1909 all but forgotten today was a tipping point in women's struggle for equal rights. The event was open to both sexes and cleverly calculated to show men that suffragettes were not the dangerous 'shrieking sisterhood' they were painted but were in fact the wives mothers and sisters they knew women safely interested in the same female pursuits they always had been women dedicated to creating beautiful things not destroying them.</p><p>'The winged angel logo was repeated on almost all promotional material. It was especially striking on the elegant white tea service specially commissioned from a pottery in Staffordshire used in the traditional tea and refreshment room during the exhibition and for sale after the event. Eight engravings the two largest 12 and 13.5 x 23 cms complete descriptive text running oveleaf on two consecutive newspaper leaves the leaves spotted with a few small edge tears but in very good condition. Detailed coverage of the visit of the British vessel H.M.S. Hermes at the time of the Taiping rebellion by a sailor on board. The lengthy commentary includes excerpts of his diary notes and the engravings are after sketches by him. The two main engravings are of "Nankin Chiefs and insurgents" and "H.M.S. A very large (105 x 38 cm) folding panorama of "The Bund - Shanghai", large folding map (55 x 51 cm) of Some of the Buildings Erected by Trollope & Colls in the City of London, occasional spot of foxing, all text pages and plates present and attached in sound, tight binding, no tears.‎

‎"The object of this book is, in the first place, to review the past and present activities of the firm Trollope & Colls, and at the same time to direct attention to the fact, as will be seen from the following pages, that the scope of the Company's business is not limited to building and public works contracting at home and abroad, but embraces the highest class of decorative work and furnishing, both for ships and for buildings." .Trollope & Colls was one of the premier construction companies of its time, noted for many landmark buildings both in Great Britain and overseas. ‎Japan.: 山田屋庄次郎. Yamada Shōjirō. Bunkyu 1 1862. Colour woodblock print 37.2 x 25.3 cms the sheet a little age-toned a spot of browning at the foot and a pinhole in the upper margin but the image unaffected very good condition. This colour woodblock print by Utagawa Yoshitora is an excellent example of Yokohama-e Yokohama Prints which were very popular in Japan after the country was opened in the mid-19th century. Yokohama was one of the trading ports with the outside world and many foreigners were residing in the area. The Yokohama-e was very similar to the Nagasaki-e Nagasaki Prints and depicted people and cultures which were foreign to the Japanese. Utagawa Yoshitora was active between the end of Edo Period to the mid-Meiji Period and produced numerous Nishiki-e prints including Yokohama-e in his career. He was regarded as one of the top Nishiki-e artists around that time. <br> <br>In this print a Western man is strolling outside with his dog and a Mongolian boy who carries an umbrella for him. The man is observing something in the distance and about to jot down something in his notebook with a pen which he holds in his right hand.
