Il cerchio

Al cerchio è associata la perfezione, la ciclicità, la superiorità del divino, ma anche l'instabilità e il moto. In natura sono sferiche le bolle di sapone e circolari gli anelli di crescita degli alberi; si narra fosse un circolo perfetto la O di Giotto, mentre la perfezione è tangibile nel Tondo Doni di Michelangelo e nella Vergine col Bambino di Botticelli. I cavalieri di Re Artù si riunivano attorno a una tavola rotonda per simboleggiare la loro parità, così oggi ci si riunisce in cerchio per prendere decisioni o vedere uno spettacolo. Bruno Munari raccoglie e descrive in questa straordinaria, piccola enciclopedia, decine di usi nei secoli di questa affascinante e misteriosa forma, tanto instabile quanto ieratica. …Per enunciare sinteticamente la tesi di questo libro “finalità del design è la realizzazione di una qualità artistica del progetto, sia per la piccola che per la grande serie”. Il caso Danese, per essere riuscito in molti casi a raggiungere questa qualità, è in questo senso interessante e merita un’analisi approfondita. Il libro è quindi articolato in due parti distinte: la prima – saggio “Arte, industria, artigianato” – cerca di delineare alcuni temi centrali: rapporti tra cultura artistica e progettazione, tra committenza e progettista, uso dei diversi modi di produzione (da quello artigianale a quello industriale). La seconda prende in esame i tre settori dell’attività Danese (le Edizioni d’Arte, le Edizioni per bambini, i prodotti per la casa e per l’ufficio), attraverso l’analisi più approfondita di un gruppo di oggetti e delle problematiche particolari e generali ad essi collegate.
