‎Recueil constitué par l'artiste de 82 lithographies réalisées entre 1939 et 1940 d'après ses dessins. Toutes sont des portraits du personnel enseignant de l'université de Genève, au crayon noir ou gras, et comportent en légende le nom du modèle et la signature de l'auteur, ainsi qu'une date. On distinguera le portrait de Jean Piaget, qui fut amplement utilisé comme image du psychologue. Le papier habituellement utilisé est celui usité pour le dessin, et les qualités de la lithographie laissent penser qu'il s'agit de dessins originaux ; on pense que l'auteur possédait sa propre presse et réalisait ses lithographies. Reliure en pleine basane citron marbré d'époque. Dos lisse, titre argenté. Sur le plat , en lettres d'argent : Université de Genève, avec les armes au-dessous, et en bas à droite : Oscar Lazar, 1941. Frottements et quelques épidermures. L'artiste fera relié semblablement ses recueils de dessins originaux, cette reliure agissant comme une reliure personnalisée pour les oeuvres de Lazar. Envoi : Dédié à Monsieur Albert Lagier. Chêne-Bougerie, le 20.IV. 1942. Lazar. Albert Lagier était alors recteur de l'Académie de Genève. Dessinateur et portraitiste d'origine hongroise, Oscar Lazar s'est installé à Genève en 1924. Il publie plusieurs ouvrages sur des personnalités genevoises, suisses et internationales d'après ses dessins (Rotary, Saint-Moritz, Zurich, Société des Nations). ‎2 suites de la seconde série de ce recueil de gravures. Elles sont composées de 4 cahiers (sur 6) notés de A à D, comprenant respectivement 4 gravures. De la première suite, on trouve le 1er cahier A complet, la 2e gravure manquante au cahier B, les gravures 3 et 4 manquantes pour le cahier C et la seconde manquante du cahier D. Dans la seconde, les cahiers A, B et D sont complets, il ne manque que la 2e gravure du cahier C. Elles représentent toutes des paysages marins peuplés de figures humaines. Elle sont bordées d'un quadruple encadrement, d'un cartouche en bas au centre désignant le cahier pour la première gravure de chaque cahier et d'un titre pour la première gravure du cahier A et celle du cahier D. Elles sont numérotées à droite et dotées d'une lettre à gauche, correspondant au cahier. Elles sont gravés par les soeurs Ozanne d'après les oeuvres de leur frère Nicolas, une famille d'artiste brestois spécialisée dans les représentations de marines. "Les Accidents de l'Enfance" is a series of stories depicting children in horrible accidents framed as a warning and advice to children to listen to their parents and to not get into trouble. The stories are accompanied by a variety of illustrations of the accidents described in the text by French illustrator and engraver Edmond Morin 1824-1882 who illustrated many books and periodicals such as "Children's Week" French illustrator Gerlier and Fortune Meaulle 1844-1901 a French engraver best known for providing engravings for Victor Hugo's "The Toilers of the Sea" based on drawings by Francoise Chifflart 1825-1901. <br/><br/>This volume has a lovely cloth binding with bright gilt floral patterns on the front board; it is one of only a very few online as of this writing.<br/><br/>___DESCRIPTION: Full red cloth with title inside floral pattern in black and gilt inside gilt ruled borders on the front board gilt lettering and floral decorations on the spine black floral pattern with publisher's name inside black ruled border bevelled boards all edges gilt blue endpapers frontispiece a black-and-white illustration by Edmond Morin title page with publisher's device in black black-and-white engraved headpieces by Gerlier and Meaulle throughout black-and-white drawings by Morin throughout; octavo size 8.25" by 5.5" pagination: i-vi 1-216. Please note the text is in French.<br/><br/>___CONDITION: Volume is very good with a strong square text block with solid hinges the interior is clean and bright and entirely free of prior owner markings; boards are clean overall with some slight soiling some rubbing to the edges of the board to the corners and to the head and tail of the spine sunning to the spine and some minor foxing to some of the interior pages.
