Revisitant les formes utiles à l?aune de nouveaux matériaux, il fonde en 1954 l?Atelier de recherches plastiques (ARP) avec Michel Mortier et Joseph-André Motte, premier collectif français de créateurs qui durera trois ans. À partir des années 1960, il privilégie l?architecture intérieure, où sa maîtrise de l'espace, des matières et de leur mise en oeuvre l'impose sur de nombreux projets. Il participe au chantier de Firminy après le décès de Le Corbusier et collabore avec l?architecte Michel Bezançon à la création de La Plagne ou Jean Dubuisson à Bandol. Sollicité pour de multiples chantiers privés ou publics, il aménage notamment la préfecture et le conseil général de l?Essonne à Évry ainsi que le tribunal de grande instance de Créteil. S'appuyant sur des archives inédites, cet ouvrage revient sur un parcours riche de plus de 200 aménagements, presque autant de meubles et un ensemble exceptionnel d?appareils d'éclairage qui pose les jalons du luminaire moderne.

Second edition, 4to, 3 works in one, main volume followed by two supplementary volumes (second supplement bound before first), xxiii, [1 blank], 108, 26; [4], 19, [1]; xii, 120pp., 29 copper-engraved plates, supplementary volumes with there own title-pages, second supplement lacking half-title, some light staining to blank margins of first few leaves, recently expertly bound in half calf over marbled boards, spine gilt, red morocco title label, a nice copy. Chairmaking and carving were distinct branches of cabinetmaking during the late eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century. This is the earliest book of prices specifically for chairmakers, the two supplements deal with new styles of furniture, mainly Regency.
