Copy belonging to Bruce Willis' stand-in Allen Strange with a detailed and nicely anecdotal typed letter signed providing provenance. With director Shyamalan's initials signing off on the script on the last leaf of the shooting script. <br/><br/>An interesting insight into a quiet auteur film that has become a cult favorite here evidenced as the result of some extreme editing. This early draft shows numerous differences between what Shyamalan shot and what made the finished film. Staneruck notes that "Many of the scenes that were shot which in my opinion were stunningly great were discarded after rewrites and lost in the editing . one incredible sequence that was cut shows . Bruce Willis in the shower naked.slowly overcome by emotion and breaks down crying." Staneruck also describes a very expensive shot of the train crash "which was on a 3 axis gimble with 20 stunt people falling about and dying violently. A Big Bucks scene. The Man on the Balcony Original screenplay for an unproduced film
Stockholm Sweden: Concorde Film 1974. Draft script for an unproduced film. With the name of the script written across the folder in manuscript pencil and a few small manuscript pencil and ink annotations presumably secretarial throughout correcting grammatical errors. Laid in with the script is a three-page typed summary of the story and a two-page typed letter addressed from Concorde Films managing director Lennart Berns to casting agent Paul Kohner suggesting actor Charles Bronson for the part of police detective Martin Beck. Text in English.<br /> <br /> Based on screenwriters Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo's 1967 mystery novel about a Swedish police detective who realizes an anonymous serial robber might be the only witness to a string of grisly child murders in Stockholm. Eventually successfully produced in 1993 by director Daniel Alfredson and screenwriter Jonas Cornell but bearing little relation to the authors' earliest vision.<br /> <br /> Set in Stockholm.<br /> <br /> Tall housed in an untitled beige card folder. Title page present with credits for screenwriter-novelists Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo and screenwriter Arne Mattsson. 177 leaves with last page of text numbered 174. All have light printing offset to versos from the neighbors else very good or better. A representative selection of the lobby cards less cards 1 and 5 promoting the U.S. release of Wolf Mankowitz's own 1959 adaptation to the screen of his successful West End play directed by Val Guest. The film stars Laurence Harvey as a sleazy hustler and Sylvia Syms as his stripper girlfriend. Britain's answer to Elvis Presley or Ricky Nelson or take your pick Cliff Richard plays "Bongo Herbert" in this his second film. Mankowitz was nominated for a BAFTA award for his screenplay.
