The Dust Jacket is bright with just a touch of rubbing at the corners. NO chips. NO creases. NOT price clipped 10/6 net. The binding is the original blue boards lettered in shiny gold on the spine. The book's printed dedication is to the author's mother i.e. Edith Mary Pickburn Chute -- or "E.M.C." for short. The dedication page reads: "For Mother like the other one." On the front endpaper the author has penned: "For Mother it's yours already my darling signed Marrie." "Yours already" presumably refers to the first American edition of this same title -- also dedicated to the author's mother and inscribed to her. We offer that copy separately. Born in Wayzata Minnesota in 1909 Marchette "Marrie" Chute moved to New York City with her mother and two sisters in the early 1940s. Both sisters B. J. Beatrice Joy Chute and Mary Grace Chute later Mary Chute Smith of Morristown N.J. were also gifted writers. Marchette Chute wrote 13 books and was elected to the American Academy of the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1975.
