ont> Charles Taylor : London 1898 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. A charming fairy tale by the Reverend Paget warning children against selfishness. 'The Hope of the Katzekopes' was written by Reverend Paget with the intention of guiding young minds towards a more wholesome morality as the author believed that this was lacking in other fiction at the time. It was intended to exercise empathy in children and to guide them away from selfishness. Written by Reverend Francis Edward Paget who was the chapplain to the bishop of Bath and Wells and who restored Elford Church. Some of his other works include 'Lucretia' 'The Pageant' 'Tales of the Village Children' and 'Some Records of the Ashtead Estate and of its Howard Possessors'. With six illustrated head pieces throughout. Condition: In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally sound. Light dampstaining to the boards causing discolouration. A couple of light markings to the boards. Minor sunning to the spine. Small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Rear hinge is strained. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown '1898'. Prior owner's tidy sketching of the Union Jack to the font pastedown.
