Quelques rousseurs affectant principalement les débuts et fins des volumes, agréable exemplaire joliment établi. Reliures en demi chagrin aubergine, dos éclaircis à cinq nerfs ornés de filets noirs et de fleurons dorés, dates dorées en queues, plats de papier marbré, gardes et contreplats de papier peigné, tranches peigne jaspées, quelques épidermures, reliures de l'époque. L'originale, A History of Persia, était parue en 1815. Important ouvrage sur la Perse pour lequel l'auteur a "consulté avec soin tous les auteurs européens de quelque considération qui ont écrit sur l'histoire et la littérature des peuples orientaux", et a pris des renseignements auprès des spécialistes et ambassadeurs divers. Important document concernant l'histoire du Canada et des Etats-Unis, l'ouvrage commence par s'interroger sur les causes du conflit entre la Grande-Bretagne et la France concernant le territoire de l'Ohio. En effet, en 1756, c'est le début de la guerre de 7 ans, ou Indian War, guerre de conquête pour une occupation légitime des territoires ; cette guerre essaimera de Virginie et de la Nouvelle Ecosse à toute la région des lacs au Canada, certains indiens combattirent aux côtés des anglais, d'autres à ceux des français. Shebbeare revient sur les défaites anglaises, sur la mauvaise politique et les généraux présents au Canada, l'intervention de la milice américaine et Washington. L'auteur accuse vertement le gouvernement anglais (rois et ministres) d'avoir failli dans la protection des colonies britanniques de l'Amérique et prédit la ruine de l'Angleterre, citant des exemples à l'envie de la mauvaise politique menée au Canada.
