Kootenay Circa 1960 British Columbia Press Photos of Arrowhead Golden and Revelstoke Areas
Victoria BC: British Columbia Government Travel Bureau. Loose Photographs. Very Good. Five gelatin silver photos all 8x10 w. white borders. Published in the 1950s and 1960s these press photos were produced by the Provincial government to entice motorists to "hit the road". This meant using their personal automobile and the new provincial motorways - together recently crowned King after dethroning rail travel - as their preferred method of exploring Beautiful BC. Title captions on versos read variously "Gold Creek between Revelstoke and Arrowhead" ; "Bush River near Golden" ; "Sutherland Falls in Gold Creek between Revelstoke and Arrowhead" ; "Water Falls Gold Creek BC" and "Kicking Horse Canyon East of Golden". Photos w. minor wear one photo a little toned rubber stamps on versos. An interesting look back at BC tourism capturing here some wild and beautiful landscapes.
