In-16°, legatura moderna in mezza pergamena con punte, cc. num. 3, cc. non num. 3, pp. 438, cc. non num. 9 di Indice (ultime 6 mancanti). Alone a un centinaio di pagine, per circa metà della superficie del foglio; piccoli fori di tarlo che non interessano il testo, e altre tracce del tempo. Copia da studio. Interessante resoconto del viaggio, in dieci lettere indirizzate a vari personaggi. Duloir s'imbarcò a Marsiglia nel 1639, alla volta di Malta; passando per Smirne ed Efeso giunse a Costantinopoli, dove assistette all'intronizzazione del Sultano Ibrahim; da qui prese la via della Grecia e, passando per Corinto, il Peloponneso, Corfù, Zante, Ragusa, la Dalmazia, l'Istria giunse a Venezia. Da p. 321 alla fine il 'Viaggio d'Inghilterra del Signor di Sorbière', di Samuel Sorbière (1615-1670).

"Des temps mérovingiens, ne surnagent aujourd'hui que quelques images d'Epinal : le vase de Soissons, la culotte du bon roi Dagobert... La modeste notoriété de ces anecdotes n'est même pas méritée. Le coup de hache de Clovis n'est connu que par un seul texte, plutôt tardif, et le brave Dagobert ne fut accusé d'étourderie qu'à partir du XVIIIe siècle. Avant le temps de la mémoire oublieuse, il y eut pourtant une famille qui occupa le trône des Francs entre les environs des années 450 et 751. Trois siècles, c'est plus que toutes les autres dynasties, à l'exception des Capétiens. En outre, les contemporains avaient une haute idée de leurs rois. Ecoutons par exemple un évêque italien, Aurélien qui, dans les années 540, s'adresse à son maître le roi Théodebert Ier (533-548), petit-fils de Clovis : " Passant outre l'éclat céleste de ta famille, je ne dirai pas que si ton sceptre est unique, tes sujets sont nombreux, si ton peuple est divers, ta domination est unifiée, si ton royaume est solide, ton empire est étendu". Le royaume de Théodebert ne constitue pourtant qu'une fraction du monde franc : il coexiste avec d'autres Etats appartenant à d'autres descendants de Clovis, des rois qui s'opposent tout autant qu'ils collaborent. Tel est le monde de Théodebert et de sa famille, celui dont Aurélien est lui-même un sujet : l'empire des Mérovingiens."
