Magnifiche prove, impresse su carta vergata coeva e finemente colorate in epoca, in ottimo stato di conservazione.Sebbene rechino la data 1664, le due carte vengono pubblicate solo nell’edizione dello Zee-Atlas of Water-Waerelt del 1665, che comprende quattro nuove carte e otto delle precedenti aggiornate. Le due tavole sostituiscono la rappresentazione antecedente del Mar Mediterraneo di Doncker (1660), con l’area suddivisa in due parti stampate sullo stesso foglio. La necessità di rappresentare il vasto bacino del Mediterraneo con due fogli era stata per la prima volta intuita da Theunis Jacobsz nel 1648.
