Lenz, Jakob Michael Reinhold / Ludwig Tieck (Hrsg.)
Gesammelte Schriften. Herausgegeben von Ludwig Tieck. Erster bis dritter Band in 3 Bänden.
Berlin, Reimer, 1828. Erste Ausgabe.

A QUESTION OF BELIEF
N.Y.: Penguin 2011. First printing. Spine edge rubbed else about fine copy of this trade paperback. "Brunetti must contend with ingenious corruption bureaucratic intransi-gence and the stifling heat of a Venetian summer. With his hometown beset by hordes of tourists and baking under a glaring sun Brunettis greatest wish is to go to the mountains with his family where he can sleep under a down comforter and catch up on his reading. But before he can go on vacation a folder with court records has landed on his desk brought by an old friend. It appears that cases at the local court-hardly known as a model of efficiency-are being delayed to the benefit of one of the parties a creative new trick for corrupting the system. And just when it looks like Brunetti will be able to get away a shocking violent crime forces him to stay in Venice." -- Publisher. First Printing. Pictorial Wrappers. Very Good-Near Fine/No Jacket. THE WATERS OF ETERNAL YOUTH SIGNED COPY
N.Y.: Atlantic Monthly Press 2016. 1st edition. Fine in fine dust jacket not price clipped in protective mylar cover. SIGNED COPY signature only by the author on special page. Endpaper maps of Venice. "In Donna Leon's Commissario Guido Brunetti series the Venetian inspector has been called on to investigate many things from shocking to petty crimes. But in The Waters of Eternal Youth the 25th novel in this celebrated series Brunetti finds himself drawn into a case that may not be a case at all. Fifteen years ago a teenage girl fell into a canal late at night. Unable to swim she went under and started to drown surviving only thanks to a nearby man an alcoholic who heard her splashes and pulled her out though not before she suffered irreparable brain damage that left her in a state of permanent childhood unable to learn or mature. The drunk man claimed he saw her thrown into the canal by another man but the following day he couldn't remember a thing. Now at a fundraising dinner for a Venetian charity a wealthy and aristocratic patroness - the girl's grandmother - asks Brunetti if he will investigate. Brunetti's not sure what to do. If a crime was committed it would surely have passed the statute of limitations. But out of a mixture of curiosity pity and a willingness to fulfill the wishes of a guilt-wracked older woman who happens to be his mother-in-law's best friend he agrees. Brunetti soon finds himself unable to let the case rest if indeed there is a case. Awash in the rhythms and concerns of contemporary Venetian life from historical preservation to housing to new waves of African migrants and the haunting story of a woman trapped in a damaged perpetual childhood The Waters of Eternal Youth is another wonderful addition to this series" -- Dust jacket. THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY: A Commissario Guido Brunetti Mystery
N.Y.: Atlantic Monthly Press 2006. 1st American Edition so stated. Fine in fine dust jacket not price clipped in protective mylar cover. "Leon's Guido Brunetti novels have been justly celebrated for their nuanced portrayal of Venice and their character-driven emphasis on human relationships. Both of those attributes are displayed nicely in her latest effort the fifteenth in this long-running and much-loved series. When police commissario Brunetti and his assistant Vianello help out one of Vianello's friends who has been arrested in an environmental protest they find themselves embroiled in a family feud involving the friend's wife and her father the owner of a centuries-old glass factory on the nearby island of Murano. No actual crime takes place until the novel is nearly half over and even then the death of a night watchman at the glass factory appears accidental. More than ever in this series the emphasis here is not on mystery--the bad guy is obvious from the beginning--but on ambience and character. Leon delves deeply into the fascinating world of Murano glassmakers and as always she lingers lovingly over Brunetti's family life and the commissario's abiding empathy with everyone he encounters. Satisfying as always." --- BOOKLIST. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. Book. Atlantic Monthly Press Hardcover

UNIFORM JUSTICE: A Commissario Brunetti title.
New York NY U.S.A.: Grove/Atlantic Incorporated 2003. 1st American edition with complete number line beginning with 1. Fine in fine dust jacket not price clipped in protective mylar cover. Detective Commissario Guido Brunetti has been called to investigate a parents worst nightmare. A young cadet has been found hanged a presumed suicide in Venices elite military academy. Brunettis sorrow for the boy so close in age to his own son is rivaled only by his contempt for a community that is more concerned with protecting the reputation of the school and its privileged students than understanding this tragedy. The young man is the son of a doctor and former politician -- a man of impeccable integrity all too rare in politics. Dr. Moro is clearly devastated; but while both he and his apparently estranged wife seem convinced that the boys death could not have been suicide neither appears eager to talk to the police or involve Brunetti in any investigation of the circumstances in which he died. As Brunetti pursues his inquiry he is faced with a wall of silence. Is the military protecting its own And what of the other witnesses Is this the natural reluctance of Italians to involve themselves with the authorities or is Brunetti facing a conspiracy far greater than this one death. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. Book. Grove/Atlantic, Incorporated Hardcover
