Der deutsche Teil ist das seltene Erstlingswerk von Sigmund Wagner 1759-1835 mit einer Beschreibung der St. Petersinsel die vor allem durch J.-J. Rousseau bekannt geworden ist. Der franzoesische Teil ist im Wesentlichen eine spaetere Uebersetzung desselben Textes. Wagner war Berner Historiker und Kunstkenner Mitglied der Bibliothekkommission und obrigkeitlicher Buecherzensor Begruender und Herausgeber der bernischen Neujahrsblaetter Mitbegruender des Antikensaals u.v.a. - Die Stiche sind von Franz Niklaus Koenig Gabriel Lory und Daniel Lafond und duerften zu den fruehesten Arbeiten der Kuenstler gehoeren.
