Desde sus a�os de estudiante Sylvia demostr� una voluntad incuestionable para lograr la perfecci�n en todo aquello que se propon�a alcanzar: tal vez este intenso af�n de superaci�n fue la causa de su intento de suicidio cuando en 1953. no pudo seguir un curso de taquigraf�a y fue rechazada para asistir a un curso literario de verano.
