Belo Horizonte Brazil: Grupo Gente Nova 1970. Soft cover. Good. Text in Portuguese in 2 volumes A-J and L-V. As a library discard page edges on top and bottom are stamped. No markings on spine or text. The dilemma is the binding. CSUS rebound the two volumes for their reference desk. The original paper wraps came from a period in Brazilian publishing prone to flimsy wrappers inferior glue and a construction prone to creasing and splitting. The library stiff plastic wrappers left the wrappers crease free and prevents spine cracks gives the books feel of a hardcover. On the other hand using the heavy black duct tape on all borders to attach the wrappers produce sticky residue which clings to endpapers and is unsightly. Endpapers have tears discoloration stamps. A note on this work itself: as a bibliographer at SDSU Press I found this dictionary format and bibliographic citations and biographical background very useful. Essentially an anthology of book reviews excerpted from wide array of difficult to access previously published sources as well as original reviews written by this "group" of a dozen or so listed in volume one. <br/> <br/> Grupo Gente Nova paperback

Helio 30-3-53" Chegado muito jovem na literatura e na política, Hélio Rocha publicou, há 15 anos, em 1940, seus primeiros artigos na revista "O Ritmo" sobre o folclore musical baiano. Proferiu então palestras sobre diversos assuntos na Academia de Letras, na Escola Nacional de Música, no Instituto Brasileiro de Cultura e outros locais prestigiosos, o que lhe rendeu elogios de Plínio Salgado, líder do movimento, de Gustavo Barroso, acadêmico, museólogo e grande historiador do Brasil do século XX, ou do escritor Afrânio Peixoto. Depois da reputação negativa do integralismo por conta da amalgama do movimento com os perdantes da Segunda Guerra Mundial, e também por conta de sua repressão pelo presidente do Estado Novo Getúlio Vargas, os integralistas chegaram com respostas pessoais diferentes. Plínio Salgado voltará à política sob cores mais moderadas e eleitorais, Barroso será ministro da Educação e continuará o seu trabalho como escritor e historiador. Hélio Rocha, o autor dessa brochura, optou por dissociar a integração dos governos autoritários europeus e reorientar-se numa direção getulista. Aqui ele rejeita o nazismo e o fascismo, mas também o ultramontanismo dos católicos então representado por Jacques Maritain.
