Biographical note: born in Nice in 1921 Colette Monceau was a student of Charles Dullin in the second half of the forties and played in several plays during the same period. At the end of the 1950s she took courses at Pierre Foix's school of graphology in Paris and worked in particular on dance as part of the exam for the Group of Consulting Graphologists of France. Having become a consultant graphologist she also teaches this technique. Particularly interested in the writings of Louis Jouvet and Sarah Bernhardt she wrote three works that remained unpublished as well as several articles. It constitutes a thousand files devoted to actors and actresses as well as personalities from varied backgrounds. Colette Monceau née Nancey 1921-2016. Notice biographique : née à Nice en 1921 Colette Monceau est élève de Charles Dullin dans la seconde moitié des années quarante et joue dans plusieurs pièces à cette même période. À la fin des années cinquante elle suit les cours de l’école de graphologie de Pierre Foix à Paris et travaille notamment sur la danse dans le cadre de l'examen du Groupement des graphologues conseils de France. Simon Lissim:Born Kiev Russia now Kyiv Ukraine 1900-died FL 1981: A painter designer illustrator ceramist stage designer and art educator Lissim is considered a master. His works were exhibited in Europe and America in an almost continuous series of one-man shows. They have been included in the permanent collections of many museums all around the world. In the Paris of the 1920s-1930s he was a notable figure closely involved with the circle of the Russian theatre world with Diaghilev Baliev Bakst Benois and many others. He settled in New York City in 1941 where he launched into another important activity that of art education. He was appointed in 1942 head of the Art Education Project in the New York Public Library and crowned this aspect of his career by becoming in due course Professor of Art at the City College of the City University of New York. But educational work did not deter him from continuing with his creative work and indeed some of his finest design work and paintings were executed during these years: gold and silver designs ceramic designs and an outstanding series of gouaches. In 1960 Simon Lissim was elected a vice-president of the British Royal Society of Arts. He was the first foreigner ever to be named an officer of the 206-year-old Society. Copyright page shows correct 1961 year play written with no prior publication dates. Not a book club edition.<br /> <br /> CONDITION REPORT<br /> <br /> The book is in Very Good condition and the dust jacket is in Good - Good condition. The spine is square and strong hinges and joints tight minimal rubbing and edgewear. Spine tips and corners are gently rubbed spine lettering complete boards clean and colorful. The text block is tight pages unbent and untorn clean inside except for front end paper which shows former sticker damage prior owners' marks and a black mark on the half-title page. <br /> <br /> The price clipped dust jacket is in Good to Good condition - colorful with edge wear chipping creasing along folds and rubbing and light soiling in spots.
