‎Le tome 1 débute par le « Commencement des choses et la création … des êtres » et finit par l’Histoire de Chine, Tome 2 et 3 sont manquants, le tome 4, chapitre LXII, décrit la naissance du prophète et finit au chapitre LXXXIV, « Paroles mémorables d’Ali… », le tome 5 s’ouvre sur le chapitre LXXXV, (le khalifat d’el-Haçan , fils d’Ali,…) , se finissant au chapitre C ( le règne d’Hicham , fils d’Abd-el-Melik ,..), le 9eme et dernier tome se finit au chapitre CXXXII (nomenclature des chefs du pèlerinage depuis le commencement de l’islam…) , suivi de l’index général (p93-p299). En rapprochant la préface des Prairies d'or et certains passages du Livre de l'avertissement, on peut retrouver les titres de vingt-trois ouvrages qu'il composa. Le principal était une Histoire universelle (Akhbār az-zamān), qu'il entreprit en 943, sorte de vaste encyclopédie historico-géographique en trente livres. Ensuite il écrivit un Livre moyen (Kitāb al-awsat), complément du précédent, qui est un récit chronologique des événements de l'histoire humaine depuis la création du monde. Les Prairies d'or sont un abrégé en cent trente-deux chapitres de la matière contenue dans les deux compositions précédentes. Le Livre de l'avertissement et de la révision, son dernier ouvrage, en est un autre résumé bien plus mince (un cinquième environ), mais avec des compléments et perfectionnements sur certains points. Ces abrègements étaient destinés à faciliter la diffusion du contenu des deux premiers ouvrages. Al-Mas'ûdî ou Al-Masudi ou Maçoudi (en arabe : علی بن حسین مسعودی Abū al-Ḥasan 'Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn 'Alī al-Mas'ūdī), né à Bagdad à la fin du IXe siècle, mort à Fostat en septembre 956, est un encyclopédiste et polygraphe arabe, à l'apogée de l'islam classique. Ses Murūj adh-dhahab wa-ma'ādin al-jawhar, ou Prairies d'or et mines de pierres précieuses, resteront jusqu'au milieu du XVe siècle le manuel de référence des géographes et des historiens de langue arabe ou persane. First edition of this illustrated travel account of one of the exiled Young Turks to Afghanistan, who was invited to the country by the reformist Afghan Emir Habibullah Khan (1872-1919), who was the ruler of Afghanistan from 1901 to 1919. The news that the reformist Afghan Emir Hamidullah Khan was looking for well-educated Turkish youth to help the development of his country, reached the Young Turks in exile in Egypt. The author of this book, Mehmet Fazli was one of the Young Turks (A reformist group in the early 20th century that favored the replacement of the Ottoman Empire's absolute monarchy with a constitutional government), and he followed this royal invitation and set off with his friends. He reached Kabul via an adventurous journey through Austria-Hungary, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Iran. With his guide and friend who was an Afghan and his Turkish friend Hüseyin Hüsni Bey, Fazli met in Cairo and they went to Afghan lands. He described Kabul, Herat, Ghazna, Belh, and Kandahar cities during their travel, wrote about the Afghan Emîr and the dynasty. His book revolves around the many details on Afghan peoples' customs, social life, education, industry, roads, antiquity, postage system and organization, arms and army, etc. The book has a photo of the Afghan Emir beside other attractive illustrations and photographs. ‎Depuis l'invasion de l'Irak, l'actualité proche-orientale a propulsé sur la scène médiatique un chiisme dont la "montée", signalée comme une donnée géopolitique majeure au Moyen-Orient, est parfois appréhendée comme un nouveau "péril", en Occident et par certains régimes arabes. C'est ce contexte qui a popularisé l'expression de "croissant chiite" pour désigner et souvent stigmatiser, de l'Afghanistan au Liban, une série de zones chiites, articulées autour de l'Iran et susceptibles de former un bloc servant les intérêts de la République islamique d'Iran. A l'encontre de ce "croissant chiite", ce livre présente les "mondes chiites", au pluriel, dans toute leur complexité. De l'Afrique à la Chine, sans compter les diasporas, on trouve des groupes chiites duodécimains souvent minoritaires, parfois majoritaires. Par sa position géographique et son rôle dans l'histoire, l'Iran est au centre de ces mondes chiites, mais que signifie et que recouvre vraiment cette centralité ? Ce livre réunit des spécialistes des aires géographiques concernées. Il offre un parcours au cœur de ces contextes multiples, où être chiite ne correspond jamais exactement à une même réalité sociale et culturelle, malgré des références communes, doctrinales et politiques. L'exportation de la révolution, qui fut longtemps le paradigme de l'influence iranienne sur les mondes chiites, a fait son temps, même si dans certains cas, tel celui du Hezbollah libanais, son héritage est évident. Quel rôle joue réellement l'Iran dans les chiismes en construction, à Istanbul, Bakou, Boukhara et Tachkent, ou encore chez les chiites de Dakar ?. Le "modèle iranien" n'est plus seulement, et, parfois plus du tout, celui d'un islam politique révolutionnaire. Du clerc rebelle Muqtadâ al-Sadr en Irak aux écoles religieuses où étudient de jeunes Pakistanaises, l'influence iranienne se décline sous de multiples formes. Pour les mondes chiites, l'Iran reste un formidable laboratoire d'idées.‎
