‎Very Good Turkish Original typescript invitation signed by Bedrettin Tuncel. 13,5x21,5 cm. In Turkish. Six lines. 1 p. A formal invitation for the general director B. S. Hollinshead's visit to Turkey with the letterhead of "UNESCO Turkey Commission of the United Nations Science and Culture Foundation in Ankara". Bedrettin Tuncel was a former academic and a politician in Turkey. Born in 1910 in Tirebolu of Giresun Province, he graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1932. For higher education, he went to France to study French literature. He graduated from the Lumière University Lyon 2 in 1936. In Turkey, he served at Ankara University for 35 years. He also lectured on the history of Art in the conservatory of Ankara for 10 years. After 27 July 1963, he served as the speaker of the Turkish National Committee of UNESCO. After the 1960 Turkish coup d'etat in addition to his academic works, he was also appointed as the representative of universities in the Constituent Assembly of Turkey. In the 24th government of Turkey, he served as the Minister of National Education. But during the democratic regime after 1961, he returned to his academic life.‎

‎Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript book of the registers of the conjurations sessions by the first Turkish spiritualist group. 20x15 cm. In Ottoman script (Turkish with Arabic letters). [154] p., several hand-drawn ills. Group has Bedri Ruhselman, (1898-1960), Albert Braun, (Violinist and Ruhselman's violin teacher of German origin), Hans Ianma (Violin teacher), Hasan Saadeddin Bey, (Turkish spiritualist), and Doctor Zühdü Riza Bey, (Turkish musician, Kemençe teacher, a friend of Sadeddin Arel). Dr. Bedri Ruhselman (1898-1960), the founder of NeoSpiritism and "the Experimental New Spiritism". Ruhselman's point of view and a new perspective to the concepts such as creation, spirit, afterlife, birth incarnation, and rebirth-reincarnation are pioneers in the Early Turkish Republican period. Ruhselman's empirical perspective on "afterlife", one of the most important and primary subjects of theology, has made important contributions to spiritism, out of the classical standpoint. (Source: Ruhselman and his metaphysical vision, Kestel). Albert Braun was Ruhselman's violin teacher and his friend. It's said this early spiritualist group is the pioneer and elitist of Neo-Spiritualism in Turkey. He is considered a Mission Medium, a very rare category within spiritual mediumship. By definition, every medium has a varying degree of ability to tune in to spiritual "frequencies". But not all "reception" (coming from those frequencies) convey a meaningful message (sometimes if any). While mediumship is a gift (meaning that; one either has it or not); very few mediums are actually knowledgeable in spiritual matters. They simply transfer what they capture from their sensitive channels. And once in a while, mainstream media picks on certain mediums, especially when he/she delivers sensational predictions (i.e. Edgar Cayce). Bedri Ruhselman's both interest and gift was manifested since his early childhood. He was conducting spiritual sessions when he was only 12 years old. While continuing his musical education in the Prague Conservatory, in the 1920s, he studied the pioneers of classic spiritualism like Allen Kardec, Gustave Geley, Charles Richet, Leon Denis, William Crooks and become experienced in hypnotism and spiritual sessions. He also completed his medical education and graduated as a medical doctor. In 1950 by establishing Metapsychic Investigations and Scientific Research Society, he gifted an institutional identity to Neo-Spiritualism. His true duty started in 1958 by means of spiritual sessions with a guide being from higher spiritual plans which identified itself as "The Master". Ruhselman and his carefully selected mediums received a vast amount of knowledge via these sessions during a few months. That body of knowledge has been compiled as a book, which Ruhselman never claimed any ownership (stating that it's purely a gift from the higher spiritual plan). The plan has instructed that; the book was only to be released in the future - to be identified by a certain sign. That point alone commends recognition for pure selfless devotion towards undertaken duty. If the ego was in play; one would usually do anything for fame or at least to cash on the subject. But Ruhselman completes his true duty and hands over the book for safekeeping without ever mentioning one word about the content. He passes away a few months after (1960). (Source: Indication23). This manuscript includes their registers of the conjurations sessions with some illustrations which have "table order" of the sessions at a house in Sisli, Istanbul. In the illustrations, given the locations of the goods in the room like piano, wardrobe, chair, etc. Registers including the sessions between the years of 1935-1936. Scripts were written by M. Zühdü Pektas mostly, by various fountain pens with blue and black inks. Some registers are taken by a pencil. An extremely rare stylish manuscript. Unpublished.‎

He was Minister of Public Works 1926-1928 and deputy for three terms; and an ambassador. He served as Turkey's ambassador to Budapest between 1928-1939 and to Paris and Vichy between August 1939-August 1943. As Turkish ambassador in France under the German Occupation after June 1940 Erkin used the power of his office and nation's neutrality to save Jews who could document a Turkish connection however slight from the Holocaust. Other Turkish diplomats in France and elsewhere were also active in this rescue effort. Sur cette base solide se fonde et se developpe le parti politique de la classe ouvriere.". Behice Boran was a Turkish Marxist politician author and sociologist. As a dissenting political voice from the left Boran was repeatedly imprisoned for her work and died in exile after the Turkish military coup of 1980. Boran was born in Bursa to Volga Tatar parents whose families had settled in the Ottoman Empire during the 1890s. She graduated from American College for Girls in Istanbul Turkey and studied sociology at the University of Michigan in the United States. She received her PhD on sociology in 1939 from Michigan and was involved in Marxism. She was nominated to Ankara University Faculty of Language and History-Geography AÃœ DTCF as an associate professor. She also joined the clandestine Communist Party of Turkey TKP and began publishing left-wing periodicals Yurt ve Dünya English: Motherland and World and Adimlar English: Steps which led to her sacking from the university. In 1950 she led the formation of the Turkish Peacelovers Association which protested against Turkey's participation the Korean War which led to her arrest and a sentence of 15 months in prison. Between 1965-69 Boran served as a deputy from the Workers Party of Turkey TIP in the Turkish parliament. In 1970 she assumed the leadership of the party. She was arrested after the military coup of 1971 and sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment. After she was released following an amnesty she re-established the TIP in 1975. After the military coup of 1980 Boran went into exile in Europe living as a political refugee in Sofia Brussels and Düsseldorf. In 1987 she announced that TIP and TKP had decided to merge. She died soon after this press conference from heart disease in Brussels Belgium. She was 77 years old. Her body was brought to Istanbul and her funeral turned into a mass demonstration the first public show of force of Turkey's left-wing movement after the coup. Çaglar graduated as a senior mining engineer in 1929. He served as a regional manager at MTA (Turkish Mining Survey and Research Department), and for a short while, was a Member of Parliament. In 1949, Çaglar published the magazine Sadirvan. He also directed the radio program "Siir Dünyamiz" (meaning Our World of Poetry in Turkish). Common themes in his poetry included Kemalism and populism. Behcet Kemal Caglar taught Turkish Literature at Robert College (Robert College is an American College founded in 1862 in Istanbul, Turkey).‎

Al-Farabi's philosophical thinking was nourished in the heritage of the Arabic Aristotelian teachings of 10th-century Baghdad. His great service to Islam was to take the Greek heritage, as it had become known to the Arabs, and show how it could be used to answer questions with which Muslims were struggling. To al-Farabi, philosophy had come to an end in other parts of the world but had a chance for new life in Islam. Islam as a religion, however, was of itself not sufficient for the needs of a philosopher. He saw human reason as being superior to revelation. Religion provided truth in a symbolic form to non-philosophers, who were not able to apprehend it in its purer forms. The major part of al-Farabi's writings were directed to the problem of the correct ordering of the state. Just as God rules the universe, so should the philosopher, as the most perfect kind of man, rule the state; he thus relates the political upheavals of his time to the divorce of the philosopher from government.‎

First and Only Edition of this rare first-hand account tells the failures, deficiencies of the Ottoman army in the Balkan War (1912-1913), and the conflicts between the commanders during the war. Bekir Sitki [or Sidki] participated in the war with the rank of lieutenant. The wars and struggles fought by the Vardar army, a branch of the Western army called Câvîd Pasha branch affiliated to it, are explained day by day with four plans in this work in a plain language, and information is given about the situation of the Ottoman army, its deficiencies, the difficulties experienced during the war, and thus the difficulties of the war and the deficiencies of the Ottoman army.
