Intensive work on the Paleolithic took place particularly during the early years of the Turkish Republic. The vicinity of Maltepe and its Coal Gas Factory (Maltepe Havagazi Fabrikasi), the work fields of the Institute of Agriculture (Ziraat Enstitüsü), Gazi Institute of Education (Gazi Egitim Enstitüsü), Ludumlu, Egmir and Mogan Lake, Gavurkale, Etlik, Keçiören and its vicinity, Haci-Kadindere, Ergazi, Etiyokusu, Güdül, the village of Ilhan, Dikmen and Çaldag, Hüseyin Gazi, Çubuk Valley, the village of Ivedik, Etimesgut, Eryaman, Çayyolu (specifically Çayyolu Sondurak) and Karaköprü, Sincan, Karasal, Sindiran-Yaniktarla, the vicinity of the villages Peçenek and Dodurga; they are sites yielding Paleolithic period chipped stone tools. These stone tools display a number of characteristic features that help date these artifacts to various periods between the Lower Paleolithic and Epipaleolithic periods. Research publications indicate that most of these stone tools were not found in situ but were moved from their original spots. Ankara and its vicinity were intensively inhabited during the Paleolithic period. Only a single site has so far been located, however, for the following Mesolithic/Epipaleolithic period. Kansu and Ozansoy collected numerous microliths at Macunçay; they have been identified as Mesolithic.There is, as of yet, no excavated Neolithic period site in Ankara and its vicinity. There are difficulties identifying and analyzing the Chalcolithic period in the region of Ankara. The problem for the Neolithic period applies here also. There is, as of yet, no excavated site clearly dating to the Chalcolithic period. There are a few settlements that can merely be dated to the Late Chalcolithic/Early Bronze Age Transition period. A number of important sites dating to the Early Bronze Age II and III (2500-2000 BC) have been identified in the province of Ankara. The first of these is Etiyokusu, just near the Stream of Çubuk (Çubuk Çayi). The excavations were headed by S.A. Kansu in 1937. Three levels of occupation were unearthed in the settlement of Etiyokusu. The finds of Etiyokusu indicate that it was a village settlement built upon stone foundations and mud brick walls, dating to the Early Bronze Age II-III. Furthermore, structures with circular stone foundations (a well-pit or barley silo) have been identified. There are also the settlements Ahlatlibel and Koçumbeli very near Ankara central, vital for understanding the Early Bronze Age in the region. In 1933, H.Z. Kosay identified.

Ziya Pasha, pseudonymous of Abdul Hamid Ziyaeddin was an Ottoman writer and translator. He was, along with Ibrahim Sinasi and Namik Kemal, one of the most important authors of the Tanzimat period. He held several offices in the Ottoman State. From 1865 he was a leading member of the Young Ottomans. In 1867 he went together with Namik Kemal to Paris and London, where he published a newspaper called Hürriyet (freedom). His return to the Ottoman Empire was followed by tenures as governor of Cyprus, Amasya, Konya, Aleppo and last Adana.

Cassinelli occupied our house located in Pera Rue Hodja Ali No 19. On December 1 1887 and left him on September 30 1899. That during all time he did not pay me the tax. P. pon de la succession de feu le Comte A. de Camondo. i.e. On behalf of the succession of Count Abraham Salomon Camondo 1781-1873. Probably it's signed by his advocate of Moise de Camondo. Recipient is not defined. Letter indicates one of Camondo family's houses in Pera Constantinople. 265x21 cm. Completely in French. 14 lines. On a paper watermarked "William Brown & Co. London". William Brown and Co. were located in London in this 'St. Mary Axe and 40 to 41 Old Broad Street London E.C.' address according to Grace's guide to British industrial industry; they worked on 'Lithographic and Letterpress Printers'. 1887 Registered as a Limited Company. Count Mo�se de Camondo 1860-1935 was an Ottoman Empire-born French banker and art collector. He was a member of the prominent Camondo family. As a child Camondo moved with his family from their home in Constantinople Ottoman Empire to Paris around 1869 where he grew up and continued the career of his father Nissim de Camondo 1830-1889 as a banker. He was born into a Sephardic Jewish family that owned one of the largest banks in the Ottoman Empire established in France since 1869. Starting in 1911 he completely rebuilt the family's Parisian mansion on the Parc Monceau in order to house his collection of 18th-century French furniture and artwork. Working closely with the architect Ren� Sergent he created a palatial home conforming to certain 18th-century traditions even planning the room dimensions to match exactly the objects in his collection. The entryway is inspired by the Petit Trianon of Versailles. The home includes a kosher kitchen with separate sections for meat and dairy. The dining room includes a beautifully-carved green marble fountain in the shape of a shell with a dolphin spigot for the ritual washing of hands before eating a meal. Some highlights of his collection include a French silver service that had been ordered by Russian Empress Catherine the Great a set of Buffon porcelain with exact reproductions of ornithological drawings from the S�vres manufacturer and perhaps the only existing complete set of Gobelin royal tapestry sketches. He married Ir�ne Cahen d'Anvers daughter of Louis Cahen d'Anvers in 1891. They separated in August 1897 after her affair with de Camondo's stable master Count Charles Sampieri whom she would later marry and divorce. The children Nissim and Beatrice remained with de Camondo. The mansion was completed in 1914 but his son did not reside there very long as he rejoined the French Army to fight in The Great War. It had been de Camondo's great hope that his son whom he adored would take over the family empire. Following Nissim's death in 1917 de Camondo closed all banking activities. He largely withdrew from society and devoted himself primarily to his collection and to hosting dinners for a club of gourmets at regular intervals. Camondo died in 1935 and the museum opened the following year. He donated the home to Paris's Decorative Arts society as a museum Mus�e Nissim de Camondo in honor of the loss of his son Nissim in World War I. In addition to the collection the meticulously-restored service areas elevator and woodwork of the mansion are noteworthy. During the German occupation of France during World War II his daughter B�atrice his son-of-law L�on Reinach and their children Fanny and Bertrand were deported from France and died in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The study of ijazah tradition, its history and its impact is somehow neglected by both Muslim and non-Muslim researchers and scholars alike. This significantly unique tradition of the Muslim educational system has a long history as it emerged and developed parallel to Islamic education itself, and was in practice for more than a millennium. However, after adapting the new educational system during the late 19th century and throughout 20th century until the present, the tradition of granting ijazah drastically began to decline and to extent became a part of history as it was practised among countable scholars, who express their will to keep this distinctive Muslim tradition alive. During the 3rd century of Hijrah/9th century of C.E., this tradition had a strong impact to the higher learning institutions of Europe, where it is believed that granting diploma/license was the product of the Muslim tradition ofijazah, but in terms of the form and content the former differed completely from the latter. Besides the central regions of the Muslim world, the ijazah system appeared and practised extensively in the periphery, where this can be clearly seen in the regions of Southeast Asia and Southeast Europe. Though modern-day diploma replaced ijazah, this practice is still alive in certain parts of these regions; however, it is not recognised "officially" by the government higher learning institutions. Up to this moment, this research managed to interview and discuss with number of 'ulama who have been granted ijazah from their preceding scholars from various countries of the Balkans.

Coining the phrase 'bazaar painters' in a 1985 article, Metin And enriched our art history terminology with a new concept as well as offer a glimpse into the world of these artists: how they worked, what they drew, where their works are today and how they contribute to our study of history of art and culture. He continued to promote and popularise their work through books and articles published until 2007, at times repeating earlier content as required. Bazaar painters and their work were not initially identified as a distinctive genre; Franz Taeschner, the first researcher to publish a selection, felt no need to refer to them as anything other than 'miniatures'. Challenging this trend, Metin And set about the immensely difficult task of obtaining pictures of bazaar painting albums from four corners of the globe in order to illustrate a prolific series of essays and books.The second volume of Ottoman Figurative Arts, Bazaar Painters consists of twelve articles published between 1985 and 2007, a comprehensive introduction by Tülün Degirmenci, and a concise album. The pictures and inscriptions Metin And chased enthusiastically all his life are but the echoing footsteps of a book, one that was either never written, or somehow got lost before it could be published.
