Important A.L.S. 8vo. 2 pages black bordered mourning stationary in French partly translated no place no date written to a friend about the prospective illustrations to be used in a book "I have read the proofs. and it is really good." He continues that "Chapon is rushing me to make a choice about the painters he has selected and for use of their reproductions". He suggests a list of paintings to be chosen based on their importance and ease of reproduction. and further provides his own list of artist whose work he has selected: "Guerin Laprade Marval Lemmen Lacoste Agard Lebasque and Marquet." Uniformly toned with minor fraying at the borders not affecting text. Very good condition.<br/> <br/> French painter best remembered for his work during the transitional period between Impressionism and Modern Art. The reproduction of the drawings was a real challenge entrusted by Ambroise Vollard to the care of the Imprimerie Nationale and to the skill of the eighty craftsmen who shared the work under the direction of Tony Beltrand.The work appeared without a publication slipcase: the copies are generally bound and such a copy in sheets and in very good condition has become rare.
