Dekobra Maurizio pseud. Maurice Tessler 1885 1973
Sammy; Soldato Americano. Traduzione e illustrazioni di G E C.
Torino: Libreria Cosmopolita 1930. Paperback. First edition of this translation into Italian of a French-language original: 187p. numerous fullpage linedrawings and of course the cover in colors. Softbound 8.5x6.5 inch color wraps some edgewear with minute closed tears we see some neat restoration at the head of the spine the pulpy textblock is clean with untrimmed edges paperstock somewhat toned no ownership or any other sort of markings a clean good copy. Our French author evidently saw Yankee troops in Paree following the first world war and found that they enjoyed the relative sexual freedom of France. And were a bit obtuse. But were OK. Dated from the in-plate "30" below cover-artist's signature; G E C's deco drawings are supercilious funny sexy and one of them suggests that Yankee Sam although represented in that plate only as a wax candle spurting flame is a top-notch lover.
