Complete in two volumes. Maurice Lachatre is the pen name of Maurice de la Chatre a French editor 1814-1900. He compiled the Universal Dictionary between 1852 and 1856 with Volume I published in 1865 and Volume II published in 1870. In a quarter calf bindings with cloth covered boards. Externally sound rubbed in places. Sunning to the spines. Three hinges strained and one hinge slightly strained. Internally generally firmly bound although the first and last few pages of volume I are detached but present or working loose. Age toning and some scattered light foxing.
