This copy is enriched with two autograph letters by the author of 3 and 2 pages length respectively. A fine copy in a superb binding by Marius Michel. His main interests were the theory of numbers and recreational mathematics. He wrote several books on number theory during 1922–1930 and after the war and from 1931 to 1939 edited <i>Sphinx</i> a periodical devoted to recreational mathematics. During World War II he emigrated to the United States where he taught a course at the New School for Social Research in New York City on the general topic of "mathematical recreations."<br /><br />This 100-page booklet reprints Kraitchik's articles first published in the chess magazine <i>L'Echiquier </i>in 1926 with extra material on 3-rank boards.<br /><br /><b>Condition:<br /></b><br />Spine chipped away corners bumped and chipped edge wear with some tears front wrapper detached else a good copy of a scare item.
