This copy is fairly clean with a well attached cloth wrap which has a couple of insect chewed places on the back cover. The cloth cover is attached over staples which have rusted through the cloth. And the last few pages have suspicious chunks missing from the bottom of the pages. However for basic recipes for homemade puddings ice cream cakes jellies canning and preserving candies and breads it would be hard to find one any better. These are basic ecomonical recipes with everyday ingredients. 80 pages with a table setting section times for roasting meat and poultry cooking processes and terms. Following Landseer's painting of 1836 of Queen Victoria's favourite dog the King Charles Spaniel Dash the potters of Staffordshire were not slow to seize the opportunity to turn Dash into a national icon. Pairs of spaniels were portrayed in clay in enormous quantities followed soon after by many other breeds. The modellers are usually anonymous but the simple hand-painted decoration often done by children gives each piece an individuality and vitality and as this charming book shows these dogs have an enduring quality that makes them as endearing today as they were when first made."
