br. «Bravi... siete bravissimi... ma non somigliate a nessuno.» «Dove vi possiamo collocare?» «Che canali o strategie usate per farvi promozione?» «Ci dispiace, ma non possiamo offrirvi un contratto discografico.» Quando, nel lontano 1993, queste erano le uniche risposte a cui la nostra banda sembrava destinata, forse non avremmo mai pensato di arrivare un giorno a raccontare in un libro trent'anni di musica, amicizia, scazzi, risate, gioie, delusioni, perdite tremende e nuovi, graditissimi, arrivi. Eppure, eccoci qua, con poco più di duecento pagine che racchiudono la vita di quello che si può a buon diritto definire il più "improbabile" tra i gruppi italiani. Una storia altra, la nostra, fatta di percorsi quasi mai semplici e spesso lontani dalle strade maestre, una storia che si intreccia con gli ultimi trent'anni di questo Paese meraviglioso e contraddittorio e che ci rammenta cosa sono state la musica, la politica, la vita in tour, la gavetta, la discografia e come tutte queste cose sono cambiate con noi, accanto a noi. Ci ricorda luoghi infiniti, mutati o scomparsi, sale da concerto, persone e artisti, festival, sballi e tragedie che tratteggiano il volto di un'epoca, ben precisa e perduta. Ci piace l'idea di condividere questo libro con tutti coloro che hanno vissuto con noi quei decenni festosi e smarriti tra la fine di un secolo e l'inizio del nuovo, e, perché no, di raccontarli alle nuove generazioni, perché possano amarne i tratti più belli, odiarne i peggiori, ma, soprattutto, capire da dove viene anche il loro di mondo. Costellato dalle testimonianze dei tanti amici che abbiamo incontrato lungo il cammino - Carmen Consoli, Piero Pelù, Carlo Lucarelli e Stefano Bollani tra gli altri -, questo libro è più semplicemente il risultato del nostro sforzo titanico di darci dentro come pazzi, perché, in fondo... "se mi rilasso collasso".
