Jazz cosmopolita ad Accra. Cinque anni di musica in Ghana
br. Nel 2005 Steven Feld, antropologo appassionato ed esperto di jazz, atterra per la prima volta ad Accra, capitale del Ghana. Al suo arrivo non sa che ci tornerà regolarmente per cinque anni, dopo l'incontro con gli artisti locali e la scoperta di radici musicali comuni, né sa che quell'incontro porterà a conversazioni, session, spettacoli, progetti discografici che destruttureranno completamente le sue certezze sul jazz. Feld si ritrova a disimparare, quindi imparare daccapo, una musica che era certo di conoscere bene, quel jazz che ha accompagnato la sua vita fin dall'adolescenza e che lì, davanti ai suoi occhi, viene decostruito e ricostruito nell'interazione con le voci dell'Africa; viene rinvigorito da storie e metodi africani d'ascolto; viene riconfigurato dalle diverse maniere africane di collocare il jazz nel solco di storie globali di razza e razzismo, lotte di liberazione, politica e spiritualità. Nasce così "Jazz cosmopolita ad Accra", il racconto della storia jazz afroamericana attraverso i volti dei suoi protagonisti: Ghanaba, celebre batterista ghanese vittima dell'America razzista degli anni cinquanta e amico di Charlie Parker, Max Roach e Thelonious Monk; Nii Noi Nortey, scultore e musicista sperimentale ispirato dalle avanguardie degli anni sessanta e settanta e dalla filosofia panafricana; Nii Otoo Annan, percussionista rivolto al suono di Elvin Jones e di Rashied Ali; un sindacato di autisti di pullman e camion che, con i loro clacson, i por por, rendono omaggio alle esequie dei colleghi e degli appartenenti alla loro comunità. Sullo sfondo, il connubio tra l'eredità di John Coltrane e la tradizione musicale e culturale africana. Steven Feld dà vita a un progetto dal respiro internazionale, racconta nuove storie «acustemologiche» e si lascia meravigliare insieme a noi da come il jazz di Accra rappresenti tanti mondi musicali cosmopoliti: un'indagine sulla somiglianza delle tradizioni da una sponda all'altra dell'oceano Atlantico, sull'afrocentrismo e sull'assenza di confini.

A partire da un progetto interdisciplinare sui destini dei diplomati del Conservatorio, sono stati coinvolti studiosi con punti di vista disciplinari e metodologici differenti: un compositore (Fabio Cifariello Ciardi), tre musicologi di diversa estrazione (Federica Fortunato, Marco Russo e Stefano Lombardi Vallauri), una pedagogista musicale (Lara Corbacchini), un filosofo (Daniele Goldoni) e tre sociologi (Giolo Fele, Chiara Bassetti e Sara Zanatta).

In 16 (cm 12,5 x 18), pp. (10) + 60. Gora agli ultimi 6 fogli. Qualche macchia sparsa alle prime 14 pagine. Brossura editoriale con aloni al piatto anteriore. . Edizione originale del libretto del melodramma musicato da Pietro Antonio Coppola su libretto di Felice Romani. Sono note le vicende che portarono a contatti tra l'impresario torinese Consul e Donizetti che avrebbe dovuto comporre le musiche. Si sarebbe dovuto utilizzare un libretto di Felice Romani gia' musicato da Francesco Basili (Milano 1819), da Francesco Sampieri (Bologna 1823), e da Feliciano Strepponi (Trieste 1829). Romani si era proposto di rimaneggiare il libretto ma limitatamente a tre numeri, tuttavia la proposta di revisione non sembro' sufficiente a Donizetti per il quale il libretto era antiquato. In apertura si legge infatti: "Questo melodramma e' lavoro giovanile dell'autore, raffazzonato ora e migliorata dal medesimo per quanto lo consentono e la natura del soggetto e la necessita' di conservare la prima orditura". Il compositore, inoltre, era contrario alla distribuzione dei ruoli fra i cantanti che l'impresario torinese Consul aveva in mente. Donizetti rifiuto' quindi l'incarico e Consul lo assegno' a Pietro Antonio Coppola (1793-1877). L'opera fu eseguita con la distribuzione dei ruoli voluta da Consul (Giuditta Grisi e' la protagonista femminile, Domenico Donzelli quello maschile). Compaiono i nomi degli interpreti. In fine compare 'Ezzelino sotto le mura di Bassano. Ballo tragico in cinque atti' di Giacomo Serafini.
