In französischer Sprache an den Drucker Charles Dezauche in Paris über ausständige Honorare. - Über die Summe von etwa 2100 Francs, die er ihm bereits vor dreieinhalb Monaten bezahlt habe, und verweisend auf die außergewöhnlich hohen Kosten seiner Musikzeitschrift, der "Revue musicale", zu Jahresbeginn: "Considerez, Monsieur, que depuis trois mois et demi je vous ai compté Deux mille cent et quelques francs [...] Les dépenses extraordinaires du Journal au commencement de cette année ont beaucoup depassé le budget ordinaire [...]" (Paris, 19. V. 1830). - Schuldschein über 2240 Francs, die Dezauche für den Druck der "Revue" noch zustehen: "Je payerai à l'ordre de Monsieur Dezauche la somme de deux mille deux cent quarante francs, valeur recue de lui en fourniture d'impression de ma Revue musicale [...]" (Paris, 1. VI. 1831). - Über seine prekäre finanzielle Lage, die ihn zwinge, 12 Stunden täglich zu arbeiten, und mit dem Versprechen, seinen Zahlungsverpflichtungen bestmöglich nachzukommen: "Toutes mes ressources ont été absorbées, et pour pouvoir à mes propres besoins, j'ai été obligé de m'imposer un travail de plus de douze heures par jour [...] J'arrive enfin au bout de cette pénible situation, et je me vois en état de satisfaire terme pour terme à mes engagemens avec vous [...]" (Brüssel, 5. Brief mit U. von Dezauche an den Kassenbeamten Hubar in Brüssel über Fétis' ausständige Zahlungen mit der Aufforderung, diese mit größtmöglicher Härte einzutreiben: "Si vous ne pouvez obtenir [...] ce payement, je desire que vous [...] fassiez assigner M. et Mme. Fétis devant le tribunal de Commerce et que vous les fassiez poursuivre avec toute la rigueur possible [...]" (Paris, 24. VI. 1835). Eh. Brief mit U. eines Neffen von Hubar auf demselben Blatt. - Eh. Kontoauszug des von Dezauche beauftragten Notars Havet mit einem Hinweis auf den Gerichtsvollzieher Degroodt, der schon früher Zahlungen von Fétis eingetrieben habe: "Il a déjà, m'a-t-il dit, forcé Fétis à payer un autre créancier". New York 1971.</p><p>Original script for the 1972 Broadway musical based on the life of Oscar Wilde. <strong>Annotated throughout by the composer.</strong> The show made its debut on November 16 at the Playhouse Theatre in New York and it ran for a brief 5 performances before closing on November 19 1972. Oscar Wilde was played by Richard Kneeland.</p><p>Script includes: Cast of Characters Synopsys of Scenes and a list of Musical Numbers. The narrative follows Wilde around London at society parties at home in bohemian Chelsea at the theatre and at homosexual dives. Characters include Lady Wilde Constance Lloyd Robert Ross Bosie Marquis of Queensberry as well as an assortment of stable boys and blackmailers. The musical explores Wilde's relationships with this wife and with his lover Lord Alfred Douglas and it is fearless and forthright in its portrayal of homosexual love and desire.</p><p>290x230mm mustard titled wrappers. Title page present noted in ink annotation as copy No. 23. 115 leaves with last page of text numbered 2-12-44. Xerographic duplication rectos only bound with two gold brads. A very good copy.</p><p><strong>Provenance:</strong> copy belonging to composer Addy O. Fieger with her name to title page and her annotations in pencil and ink throughout. Adeline Oppenheimer Fieger d. 1989 composed the campaign song for New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller in 1966 and an Off-Broadway jazz musical <em>Changes</em> in 1980. In late 1980s her songs were performed by many New York cabaret singers and were included in several cabaret shows.</p> paperback

Rubbing to the exterior some light creasing and light edgewear including some small chips and tears still very good. For voice and piano. "Dedicated to Mr. Frederic E. Beldin." Derived from an 1892 composition by Mary French Field with an arrangement including trumpet and drum. This piece by George Albert Hanna is just one of many compositions set to this poem that were published around the turn of the century. In addition to publishing sheet music Blasius & Sons is best remembered as a manufacturer of high-end pianos from 1855 to 1929 with a factory in Woodbury NJ and multiple showrooms on Chestnut St. in Philadelphia PA. Plate imprint "Papa fot would you &c." An odd song about a child asking her father how much money he would take for her a rather grim premise for a tune the father answers "a dollar" but then goes on to say that really there is no amount high enough. OCLC locates a single digital holding of an 1885 edition published for The Toronto News Company with words credited to S. B. McManus however this edition is unrecorded and appears to be equally scarce in the trade. An interesting novelty of a song with a delightfully creepy cover illustration. W.F. Shaw unknown

The name stamp is that of prolific American composer and pianist Fay Foster who took first place in the American Composers Competition of 1913. The lyrics to this song are from Eugene Field's children's poem "Wynken Blynken and Nod" who set sail in a wooden shoe to go fishing. The lyrics to this piece are actually taken from Field's poem "A Lullaby"; though Field did write a poem titled "A Hushaby Song" and those familiar with that poem might understand why it's not quite appropriate for singing.
