There are a couple of small scratches to the upper rear book cover. The text pages are clean and bright. Included are 10 songs with lyrics and score and two pages of color photos. Spohr. Un musicista affogato nel biedermeier e dimenticato
br. L'autore di questo libro assicura di aver trascorso alcuni anni occupandosi della inspiegabile scomparsa di Louis Spohr. Un musicista che il pubblico europeo dei teatri d'opera e delle sale da concerto della prima metà dell'Ottocento aveva acclamato come sublime violinista (metteva Paganini in soggezione), osannato come direttore di orchestre che il suo rigore rendeva impeccabili, adorato come compositore che, senza staccarsi dal classicismo, aveva saputo cogliere l'essenza del Romanticismo creando musica che estasiava. Spohr piaceva a tutti. Le teste coronate lo onoravano, il mondo accademico lo teneva in grande considerazione e, addirittura, i giovani delle Burschen-schaften ne avevano fatto un simbolo del loro ribellismo. Spohr ha goduto di appropriata fama sino ai primi del Novecento e poi, senza plausibili ragioni, il suo nome si è dissolto. L'esame dell'ambiente artistico nel quale è vissuto, un'attenta rilettura delle sue note biografiche e delle sue opere, almeno nei voti dell'autore, avrebbero dovuto fornire la spiegazione del misfatto, ma lui stesso sospetta che l'indagine non abbia fatto luce sul punto. È certo invece che il "desocupado lector" dal suo scritto riceverà uno stimolo ad ascoltare i suoni creati da questo straordinario musicista.

Partitur seines Intermezzos "Akeley". - Der aus Preßburg bei Wien gebürtige Komponist studierte u. a. bei Richard Heuberger, unternahm von 1896 bis 99 als Kapellmeister Tourneen durch Deutschland, Rußland und Finnland und wurde nach seiner Rückkehr 1900 Dirigent unter Carl Michael Ziehrer. "Im folgenden Jahr gründete er ein eigenes Konzertorchester, dessen Aufführungen in Wien bald populär wurden" (DBE). Ganglberger komponierte vorwiegend Unterhaltungsmusik, darunter die bekannte Polka "Mein Teddybär".

Questa composizione senza note, questo silenzio "attivo" - un pianista che non suona per 4 minuti e 33 secondi - rappresenta una delle opere d'arte più famose, controverse e incomprese di tutti i tempi. Kyle Gann racconta la vita estrosa di John Cage e analizza il suo capolavoro, illuminandone le influenze musicali e filosofiche: da Marcel Duchamp alla teoria dello Zen, da Erik Satie alle tele bianche tli Robert Rauschenberg. Nel centenario della nascita del compositore e a sessant'anni esatti dalla prima rivoluzionaria esecuzione di "4'33"", questo saggio esplora le interpretazioni e le reazioni che il gesto di Cage ha suscitato (un esperimento dadaista? una riflessione sull'ascolto? una presa in giro?), e i modi in cui ha cambiato tutta la musica che è stata scritta da quella sera del 1952 ad oggi.

Very good. - The pianist and composer Rudolph Ganz's autograph boldly signed across the top of 3-3/4 inch high by 3-1/8 inch wide photographic paper clipped from the bottom of a larger photograph. Dated 1939 the autograph is followed by a musical quotation identified as "'In May' Allegretto" above the quote and annotated "delicato e legato" below. The last line of the musical quotation is very slightly smudged. Once mounted in an album with a remnant of paper adhering to the top of the verso. Very good. <p>The Swiss-born American pianist composer conductor and music educator Rudolph Ganz 1877-1972 first studied cello with Friedrich Hegar piano with Robert Freund and composition with Charles Blanchet. Florenz Ziegfeld Sr. invited Ganz to join the Chicago Musical College and Ganz moved to the U.S. in 1900. He performed as a pianist with several orchestras. Moving to New York City in 1905 he went on concert tours throughout North America Cuba and Europe. Ganz subsequently went on to conduct the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra from 1921 to 1927 and later became permanent conductor of the Young People's Concerts with the New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony orchestras. He is also remembered for his 1933 composition "O Beautiful Month of May". 1939. unknown

This Swiss-born pianist and conductor was a mainstat at the Chicago Musical College 1900-54 and led the St. Louis Symphony 1921-27 and the New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts 1938-49; he composed a symphony piano pieces and more than 200 songs. AMuQS 1p heavy stock 3½" X 2½" card n.p. February 1906. Near fine. Mounting traces on verso. On a 3¼" X 3/4" slip tipped to the center of this heavy stock card Ganz boldly pens three full measures of music identifying it above as "from 'Lake Cycle' op. 9 Proem" and adding a line of lyrics below "Comes a song o'er the deep to the land". Near the top of the heavy card he writes "To Miss Marianna Neumann / with best wishes" and near the bottom of the card he boldly signs and dates it. Very attractive and early. unknown

Negli ultimi decenni si stanno susseguendo svariati studi sull'applicazione della musicoterapia (MT) in diverse patologie e disturbi, cercando di capire come l'elemento sonoromusicale agisce sia sul lato percettivo che su quello relazionale, tenendo conto del benessere globale che viene esperito dal paziente. Questo estremo interesse e i risultati sempre maggiori in questo campo hanno una base comune nella credenza che i nostri corpi siano stati creati per emanare e percepire vibrazioni: constatando l'unicità della musica. Dobbiamo tenere conto che alla base di tutto ciò è presente la relazione tra paziente e musicoterapista, senza la quale non sarebbe possibile sviluppare un'opportunità d'aiuto.
