Friedländer, Max, Musikhistoriker (1852-1934).
Eigenh. Brief mit U. Berlin, 1. VII. 1903.
7½ SS. 8vo.

FRIEDRICH FROEBEL
THE SONGS AND MUSIC: OF FRIEDRICH FROEBEL’S MOTHER PLAY [Hardcover]
About the Book:-The edition of Wichard Lange and the former English translations have the form and style of a music book. In separating the contents for this division, the mottoes commentaries, and mother communing have been placed in the first volume, which may be called the Mother’s volume. The songs and music are reserved for the present volume, which is the Children’s volume. What it contains is suitable for children’s ers and voices. The poems in this volume are not literal translations of those in the original Mother Play, but attempts to cast Froebel’s ideas into truly poetic dorm. A few songs have been added, In order to develop the thoughts suggested in some of the more important plays and a series of Wandering Games has been given to illustrate Froebel’s method of genetic evolution. About the Author:- Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel or Froebel (1782 –1852) was a German pedagogue, a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, who laid the foundation for modern education based on the recognition that children have unique needs and capabilities. He created the concept of the kindergarten and coined the word, which soon entered the English language as well. He also developed the educational toys known as Froebel gifts. Throughout his career, Fröbel would move between his interests in nature and in education. He began as an educator in 1805 at the Musterschule (a secondary school) in Frankfurt, where he learned about Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi's ideas. He later worked with Pestalozzi in Switzerland, where his ideas further developed. From 1806, Fröbel was the live-in teacher for a Frankfurt noble family's three sons. He lived with the three children from 1808 to 1810 at Pestalozzi's institute in Yverdon-les-Bains in Switzerland.
