An den Musikschriftsteller und -verleger Bartholf Senff mit Vorschlägen für dessen Chorbücher sowie einer Anekdote aus einer Vorstellung der 1851 uraufgeführten Oper "Casilda" von Ernst II. von Sachsen-Coburg: "In der Hoffnung einen geschäftlichen Verkehr dadurch anzubahnen, erlaube ich mir die Anfrage, ob Sie geneigt wären von meinen neuesten Kompositionen im Heft Lieder für Männerchor, Gedichte aus Waldmeisters Brautfahrt von Roquette oder im ditto für gemischten Chor oder im Heft einstimmiger Lieder mit Pianofortebegleitung in Verlag zu nehmen [...] In einer süddeutschen Residenzstadt erschall am Schluße der ersten Vorstellung der Oper: Casilda der sehr vernehmliche Ruf: 'Esel heraus!' Alles erschrack - man lachte aber gleich darauf, als Casilda auf ihrem Esel erschien" (14. III. 1852). - An den Sänger und Hofmusikbibliothekar Ernst Pasqué in Darmstadt mit der Bitte um den zweiten Band der Bach'schen Kantaten und über Karl von Winterfelds mehrbändiges Werk zum evangelischen Kirchengesang: "Verbindlichsten Dank für Übersendung des ersten Bandes der Bach'schen Cantaten. Ich hatte um beide Bände gebeten, weil ich nicht wußte in welchen von beiden die Cantate: 'Lebt Gott in seinen Reichen' steht. Jetzt ersehe ich aus dem ersten Theil, daß sie im 2ten stehen muß [...] Zugleich sende ich dir zur Einsicht den III Band von Winterfeld [...]" (4. V. 1854). - An einen Vereinsvorstand mit der Ablehnung einer Anstellung in Frankfurt: "Soviel Anziehendes es für mich nun haben würde, Ihrem Vereine ganz anzugehören [...] so halte ich es, nachdem ich die Sache nochmals in einer ruhigen Stunde mir überlegt, nicht für vernünftig, um eine Stelle mich zu bewerben, die ich nur, wenn sie mir unter vortheilhafteren Bedingungen angetragen würde, annehmen könnte [...]" (12. Basta una chitarra e un cazzo di amplificatore, e la notte si condensa intorno alle bottiglie vuote, ai corpi sudati, al desiderio di non morire." Questo libro, alla soglia del quarantennale del 1977, non è l'ennesima storia sul punk, eppure contiene e fa un sacco di storie. Anzi, si diverte ad accumulare brandelli di storie, di testi, di analisi, giocando con vari stili e registri. D'altronde, perché mai avere in testa uno schema definitivo (e ideologico) quando il punk ha cercato di negare ogni struttura culturale? In questo libro, si passa così, in ordine sparso, da un breve excursus sui Crass, leggendario gruppo anarcopunk e pacifista, ad alcuni accenni critici sulla violenza rivoluzionaria; da un tentativo d'inquadrare storicamente il "rumore creativo"ad una breve e sarcastica investigazione sulla gestione della merda nel mondo Occidentale (il nome GG Allin vi dice forse qualcosa?). E ci trovate ancora: recensioni inattuali, una carrellata sull'anarchia, note sul rumorismo contemporaneo, impeti d'amore, poeti punk ante litteram, disquisizioni in un odioso e finto stile post-strutturalista, e molto altro ancora. Insomma, ce n'è abbastanza per farvi odiare autore ed editore. Ma l'effetto è voluto. La prima pietra è scagliata.

M. werde er in der Kunstgemeinde Frankfurt "zusammen mit Wolfgang Rebner einen Sonaten-Abend zu absolvieren" haben - "meine erste öffentliche Konzerttätigkeit (abgesehen von meinem Besuch im Amerikahaus) in Frankfurt seit 1949! Gewiss wird es aber ganz leer werden, so wie man das heutzutage in Deutschland bei Kammermusikveranstaltungen kennt [...]". - Bei dem Adressaten, einem Dr. Schäfer, wird es sich wohl entweder um den Komponisten, Arrangeur, Dirigenten und Orchesterchef Hermann Schäfer (1911-77) oder wohl eher um den gleichnamigen Komponisten, Musikpädagogen und -wissenschaftler (1927-2009) gehandelt haben.
