brossura Credo che a tutti sia capitato, durante una passeggiata in campagna, nei boschi o in montagna, di imbattersi con qualcosa che "striscia" sul terreno. L'istinto ci fa sobbalzare dallo spavento, anche se si tratta di una innocua biscia. Spesso, se ci riusciamo, tentiamo di uccidere qualsiasi tipo di serpente, per il terrore che si tratti di una vipera, ma specialmente in Italia, esistono diversi tipi di serpenti totalmente innocui, che sono utilissimi per l'ecosistema. Pur avendone il terrore solo a vederli o a parlarne, qualche tempo fa ho pubblicato un racconto "thriller noir" dal titolo "Il paradosso criminale", dove narro una storia che si svolge negli Stati Uniti, in cui esistono alcune "sette" adoratrici di serpenti velenosi.

This book is written for students in Junior Technical Schools Secondary Technical Schools and Evening Institutes. It aims at giving a sound foundation in the elements of Engineering Drawing preparatory to the entry of a student to a Technical College where he will pursue his studies either for a National Certificate or a University Degree in Engineering. The book has been framed on the experience gained by the author in teaching the subject over a long period of years in a Junior Technical School. The drawing exercises have been graded so that the student will gain confidence and efficiency as he works through the book. It is not intended to be a self-educator but for use in the classroom under the guidance of an engineering teacher. Stress has been laid on the development of freehand drawing a subject which unfortunately has frequently been relegated to secondary importance. The majority of young students soon get to love drawing and freehand work gives vent to their latent talent and development of their imagination. A course in practical plane geometry should be followed in conjunction with the study of this book and the principles applied to technical drawing.
