The inner hinges are secure and the text itself is a little toned but generally quite clean. Illustrated. This is the notorious case of Captain Alfred Dreyfus a French artillery officer who was Jewish and who was charged with treason and railroaded through a unprofessional trail and sentences to life in prison at Devil's Island. Later it came out that the real traitor was someone else but the evidence was suppressed and the whistle blower was transferred. There was an army cover up to conceal his innocence. His supporters made a lot of noise and engaged a campaign for a new trial. He was eventually released. There were not many Jewish officers in the French Army and anti-Semitism was evident in his superiors and his charges. br. In questo volume Robert D. Hare analizza le principali caratteristiche psicologiche e comportamentali della personalità psicopatica. Mantenendo sempre un serio approccio metodologico e scientifico, l'autore fornisce un quadro lucido e puntuale del mondo interno dell'individuo psicopatico e delle sue strategie interpersonali. Partendo dalle seminali ipotesi di Cleckley, Hare chiarisce l'importante distinzione tra disturbo antisociale di personalità e disturbo psicopatico, dimostrando come la psicopatia costituisca una vera e propria sindrome: la mancanza di empatia, lo spiccato egocentrismo, l'assenza di rimorso e di senso di colpa, e l'uso strumentale degli altri ne rappresentano gli elementi distintivi. La definizione del costrutto di psicopatia rappresenta un indubbio avanzamento nell'ambito della conoscenza del disturbo, ed è per questo che lo strumento ideato da Hare al fine di valutarne i sintomi, la Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R), viene utilizzato in tutto il mondo nella pratica clinica e forense, oltre che in ambito di ricerca. È stato infatti ampiamente dimostrato come la PCL-R sia un reattivo psicometrico valido e affidabile che permette di identificare gli psicopatici e distinguerli anche da altri individui condannati per reati gravi.
